I was at the grocery store a few days ago and looked up to the sky because I heard a low rumble coming towards me. I look up and there are 4 F-22 Raptors flying north. They turn back towards the city and head back south to where the Air Force base is. I heard on the radio the next day that the jets were being moved from Langley to the AFB near me because of the hurricane.
I’ve always been fascinated with the F-22, got to see one at the Dayton Air Force museum but never saw one fly.
This story isn’t amazing or anything haha, I’m just happy I got to see them fly.
When I lived near Dayton I was at home on a random day and the house started shaking. I look out the back window and see a B-17 Flying Fortress fly over the house. The thing was only about 500 feet off the ground.
I’ve always been amazed with airplanes and fighter jets so I thought I’d just share those stories.

You are pretty lucky. I have an interest in jets, but will never see any of the top tier jets where I am, especially the Russian makes. The best I can possibly see are the super hornets. I may get to see the F-35 lightning once they are built and arrive in Australia.

The F-16 Raptor is my favorite aircraft, followed by the F-22 Raptor and the F-15 Eagle.

    Nice.

I’ve always liked the design of the F-4 Phantom used in the Vietnam War.

    Really sleek and mean looking.

Sadly I don’t think there is much of a future for human operated fighter planes.

A man can only take so many “G”‘s as in g-forces.
Also applies to having a fat wife “on top”.
    Hence women also being replaced.

F/A-18 Hornets were once flying super low above a beach where i was at, impressive beasts.

My fav is always the F-15 Eagle and MIG
    Then A-10 and F-14 Tomcat

    Then prop is definitely P-51
    P-39

Favorite Helicopter is the Hind D and the Bell helicopter they decked out as Airwolf among others like Huey, and etc.

I identify as an attack helicopter, but am warplane curious.

Love the sound of old planes, in Summer there´s a Junkers Ju 52 circling in my region circling around each and every day, doing sightseeing flights. It´s a slowing moving plane so you can hear its 3 radial engines from afar. It often goes over my house around 200- 300 meters of altitude.

I spent ten years as a military jet engine mechanic, and I still love seeing aircraft of all kinds.

I have to admit that it was sad to see all four of the aircraft I worked on in the Pima Air & Space Museum. Even though there are serviceable versions of those aircraft still flying, seeing them on static display made me feel old! I worked on the F-15 Eagle, C-130 Hercules, C-141 Starlifter and the P-3 Orion.
