Escalating Porn Use – Is Porn Addictive?

I’ve heard it time and time again. When you first start watching porn, vanilla is all you need. Then it escalates and you gravitate towards harder and harder porn until you’re into some pretty messed up stuff.

Well I’m here to tell you, I’ve been watching porn since I was 7 years old (I reached sexual maturity quite early). I’m now 25 and I’m still on vanilla. I’m waiting to turn into a monster, but it hasn’t happened yet and I’m increasingly doubtful it’s going to.

Part of it might be my liking of “furry” porn vs. regular human porn. Now furry porn is NOT animal porn or bestiality. It’s anthropomorphized, sentient creatures that resemble an Earth animal. I don’t see them as animals, but as another species that doesn’t exist in our reality or on our planet. I simply enjoy drawn porn much better. Here’s an example that’s been made SFW:

I got into furry porn when I was 7. In fact, the first porn image I ever saw was a furry image. What I’m thinking is that this endless variety of women and species is what’s kept me vanilla all these years. And it has an awesome side effect. I have absolutely NO desire for human women! I used to watch human and furry porn, but I haven’t actually gotten off to human porn in almost a decade. I still look at it from time to time to get a feel of what the “real thing” is, but I can never get off on it.

What makes furry stuff so much better is there’s usually a story with it. I enjoy the erotic stories MUCH more than the image(s) that go with them. Human porn is so bland and stale and when they try to act something out it’s so corny that it turns me right off.

So what about you guys? Are you finding that porn is addictive like a drug and you constantly need more extreme porn in order to get that “high?” I’m really not experiencing that. Sometimes I have a hard time getting off and I worry that it’s happening, but I just don’t fap for a day or two and I can get off to almost anything.

Well furry porn isn’t about “cartoons” but animated fantasy characters. That’s not to say that “cartoon porn” doesn’t exist. There’s some of it on furry sites. But that’s not what I or a lot of other furries are into. I personally couldn’t imagine any of my beloved childhood cartoon characters banging either.

anything can be habitually addictive, especially if you have a personality where it makes it easier for you to more actively let yourself go into patterned behavior.

it’s all about moderation. any medicine, drug or even activity is poison if dosed incorrectly or used/done inappropriately. it doesn’t even have to be anything that’s actually pleasant. there are people with eating disorders where they choose to eat non food items, often severely affecting their health. is there actually anything physically wrong with these people, they create their own sickness by conditioning their mind/brain to create a positive chemical response each time they engage in their bizarre behavior.

just moderation, you’ve already got the idea op. recognize when it is building up to potentially cause some type detriment and back off to re-sensitize yourself.

Its definitely habit forming, but all habits good and bad can be changed. You need to self access what you are doing, and why you are doing habitual thing.

For me it’s escapism and can help with sleep.

I think it definitely can be habit forming, just like drinking coffee in the morning. The question is, is their harm in the habit?

I have a hard time believe that using porn is going to cause a man to be into things that he wasn’t already into. I can’t say that was the case for me. Now, I most certainly had social/mental hangups on certain aspects of sex in my younger days. Have my tastes changed? No, I just don’t have any guilt feelings about things I used to feel guilty about.

And sure, the newness of it will wear off, but that’s not a reason to avoid it. It’s like saying you should never ski because eventually, the bunny slopes won’t be any fun anymore. Or better yet, don’t have sex because it won’t be as fun the more you do it.

The real reason it is so frown upon is because it gives women rather difficult standards to live up to. They don’t want the competition.

All that said, I’ve considered going nofap or reducedfap for 3 reasons.
1 – It does make sex with a woman less fun. This is both a positive and negative though.
2 – Because I feel as if it isn’t the healthiest state for my body. The extra production and effort is a waste, and don’t really care for the ‘need to jack off’ feeling.
3 – Although I never pay for porn, I don’t like the idea that I’m supporting the porn industry. I’m sure some are relatively good people, and not all women in porn are damaged by it, but it doesn’t feel good.
