Today’s the day where I give it all up.

Both weed and alcohol are no longer needed to enjoy life, and for the most past as I’m getting older they’re both becoming factors of depression.

I don’t think I’ll be able to eliminate caffeine as I need some sort of crutch, but its never harmed me or made me depressed in all my years of drinking it. Coffee has been a life saver, and my mood greatly improves after having a few cups in the morning.

I find that when I drink alcohol now the depression follows shortly after my first drink; it used to be I would feel it the next day or so but it’s coming on much quicker now. With weed, I am fighting fatigue in the morning, and the only reason I started back with caffeine after stopping that also is due to grogginess and being tired from smoking all night. But coffee I noticed has some health benefits that I took for granted, and since drinking on a regular basis I feel sharper and I’ve lost some weight as well. I’m not fat by any means however.

In short, I can never come to grips with moderation.

Being depressed no matter if it’s for a day or two really hinders my progress and thought process.

    Any thoughts?

For MGTOW has alcohol or weed caused any problems in your life where you caught the issue before it was too late?

One of the main reasons with me trying to become a teetotaler is due to pain in my kidney area which didn’t flare up until I drank a bottle of red a few weeks ago. At one point I could down almost two bottles of red and be fine, but the infection/pain had me put my health in further perspective.

Do what you need to do. Weed and alc are not the problem; something else is. When you have other things to do then weed and alc will regulate themselves. Take a break(that is what I do) and do something else. Do not set yourself up for failure.

Probably the best idea to abstain from weed and alcohol. They’re probably not making you stronger, but rather holding you back from your true potential and true discoveries. So, have at it.

Do what works for you as an individual.  For me, weed sets me back to neutral. Always has. I am fully capable of going without it. But my smoking pot has gone down a lot from days past. I smoke a bowl or two in the evenings, and that’s it. It’s not something that interferes with my day, and I use it to cut loose and release my mind when my entire day is over and I’m home for the evening. It’s what has always worked for me. I haven’t had a drink, not even a sip in probably between 3 to 4 years and was never a drinker even then, only socially. Drinking is what makes me depressed, and eventually, it always left me with the worst headaches so I just stopped completely.

Do whatever works for you. If it’s giving up the booze and the smoke, then so be it. Do your own thing.

Abstinence is an answer, but a very harsh and limiting answer. Kinda like amputation of a limb. If amputation is the only way to go – do it. If not – there are ways to keep infection in check by other means. Addictions only arise when there is no culture of usage. Culture is the key.
You can use the most hardcore drugs without having problems if you have set boundaries, rituals and culture you adhere to when using them.
For example – if you don’t drink alone, without a reason or when you’re driving – this alone won’t let you develop any problems associated with drinking
Complete abstinence works, but you are imposing limits on your own freedoms and expressions by doing so. There are other ways of coping, but the hive does not talk about them or supports them. They tell you “Just say no” is the only answer, when it’s not the case.

My job stops me from doing either. Spot checks ….. that now seem to happen every other week.

I would probably have been tempted by weed in the past but working out, eating healthy and just not giving a f~~~ have been my drugs of choice ☺

I vote abstain. Observe the results. Decide based on what you observe.

So far, your observation is that they cause depression, or bring on its symptoms. This you do not need.

    Man I’ve already rolled up a blunt…and it’s 6:00 p.m. here.

But I’m serious about the alcohol. Weed is a little different.

    Thanks for all the feedback.

Kava, I think I replied to someone elses thread about it. But Ive been drinking it for about 4-5 years..way better!

It gives you a nice uplifting euphoria that is NON ADDICTING and has been shown to help with anxiety and depression.

Look up Paradise Kava, or Gourmet Hawaiian Kava. I know both owners and they are super cool. GHK actually grows all of his own, and is part of the Hawaiian Kava center.

Weed and alcohol will only hinder and slow you. I personally like to feel good, but natural at the same time.
