I finally figured out how to get rid of those annoying notifications in the bottom left of the screen (the bell with the red number(s)), as most were “user X has viewed your profile” and “guest has viewed your profile”. Turns out it wasn’t me who messed up, but my browser, Firefox.

Each time I went to my account to fix the notifications, unchecking everything and clicking Update, it would move on to the page where you can change/reset your password, and I thought the site was just asking if I wanted to make more changes. However, I kept receiving notifications, so I went back again and saw everything was checked once more. Did the same as above a few times. Didn’t work (change? what change? Thanks, Obama!).

I then thought: why not give it a shot in Internet Explorer, see if that works, and ‘lo and behold it did!

So, men, if you face the same annoyance as I did, try fixing it in a different browser.

Good morning. You’re the first person who said the feature is annoying – or maybe it’s making the adjustments in Firefox that’s annoying.

But thats’ not a problem either, because we want to know if you don’t like something. We realize “guest viewed your profile” is annoying, but we NEED to have that to test how “live” it is. We can’t keep creating posts and send private messages to test it.

Everyone can edit their notifications to NOT notify then when a “guest” views the profile.

    /account/webnotifications/

( But don’t forget, web bots and crawlers visit websites daily too. )

    And PS….

Some members requested to be able to SHOW / HIDE their +1 star ratings in the forums. This is possible now if you edit your profile (top right menu) , choose to hide them and save. Only possible for those with +5K stars.

Thanks everyone for your requests and suggestions.

I like it every time I see that a guest has viewed my profile. This shows me that my effort is not in vain.

But the Firefox / Internet Explorer problem is not limited to any single website. I’ve seen it on other sites as well. That is why I have all three browsers on my machine. But this machine here is outdated and Firefox runs like a snail. It was one of my non-business “Audio work only” desktops.

    Soon to be replaced.

In July of 2018, this honey pot forum was sold out to an unidentified NPC sock puppet and troll organization. Most independent thinkers and writers migrated to other MGTOW forums as a result of the never-ending infighting and deliberate trouble starting caused by members who were given "carte blanche" by the admin to do whatever they want. Before my departure, I only left a few thousand cat pics here to comfort and ridicule the feminist owners who now run this place. Their background agenda is to make MGTOW look like a club of losers the public eye. And during the course of 2019, they actually managed to destroy almost all other MGTOW venues as well. Here is the truth about "theindependentman.org" aka "TIM" which was created as an extended workbench to further divide the community. When you register, they install a spyware Zombie cookie on your browser that does all kinds of things the user does not know of: http://www.filedropper.com/essay-on-the-removal-of-malware-cookies-used-by-tim

It’s good that you have stuff like this implemented, but it isn’t for me, that’s why I was so annoyed with Firefox.

I’ve another thing to mention about it, though. Ever since I discovered that you can open a link in a new tab using the middle mouse button/scroll wheel (go ahead, give it a try: set your mouse pointer on a text link and click that f~~~er), I’m used to doing that all the time now, but it doesn’t work that way when I expand the notifications overview, it just gives an up/down/left/right scroll thing on screen. You have to click the note to see who posted in your topic and lose your current screen until you press backspace (or hit the back button in your browser).

Could that be changed for people who are used to their scroll wheel like that?

I’m not computer savvy I don’t mind a guest looking at my profile as long as this website secures my privacy.

I find it interesting that this activity really stepped up after Trump won the Presidency.

I like the RedBell notifications. However it could use a could use ‘clear all’ command so that the number of notifications goes away after I open it, rather than tracking them all down one at a time.

The only identifier for our users is an email. It’s only visible to you when you’re logged in. Your display name can be anything. We don’t ask for name , number or anything and we don’t even know your password. Even if you asked us to tell you, we can’t because it’s encrypted and we would have to regenerate a new one – which you can also do at anytime.

You can read our zero-bulls~~~ privacy policy.

    Noted. Thanks.

If I understand you correctly, scroll wheel / right click / mouse behaviors depend on your settings – not ours.

No, my scroll wheel is always able to open a link in a new tab, except in the notifications overview. Might it be in the code or something?

Anyways, I’m not bothered by it anymore since I’ve switched them off, so I wonder why I’m complaining now, haha 😀

It’s 1:18am here now, so I’m off to bed, and I wish you all a good rest of the day!
