Read or watch this novel. This female … even back then … was very well undersood:

Cathy Ames, later known as Kate Trask or Kate Albey, is a fictional character and the main antagonist in John Steinbeck’s novel East of Eden. She is the wife of main protagonist Adam Trask, and the mother of his twin sons, Caleb and Aron. Beneath her charming, attractive facade, she is an evil woman who manipulates and destroys people for her own amusement and profit. Steinbeck characterizes her as a “psychic monster” with a “malformed soul”.

Sounds like he described the modern day woman.

great story by a great writer , a true classic..fine literature has many truths such as this..it really holds the answers to much of life’s mysteries..like how we wound up living in a society so addled with the problems we see all around us. like a history book for social disorders.. the movie was done well..james dean was brilliant ( my opinion ) ..

It’s hard to imagine the vicious backlash a masterpiece like East Of Eden would get if it was first published today.
Nobody questioned the validity of Steinbeck’s portrayal of a powerful female character.

It would be the same if “To Kill a Mockingbird” was released today.
Not one person who ever read that book doubted for a moment that Mayella Ewell’s rape claims were false.
Both the book and author would be crucified, and probably sued or criminally prosecuted for some type of hate mongering despite the gender equality the novel promotes.
All because it portrays a typical female response to saving her pride/feelings.
This was perfectly legitimate, rational and acceptable in it’s time, along with the disturbing portrayal of Mayella’s father.
    The novel was balanced.

The hardest hitting truth was the fact no character in the novel really believed the allegations were real either.,,,but they convicted Tom anyhow.
After watching DivorceCorp you’ll realize everyone in the system knows that men are innocent too Everyone involved in the system knows exactly what’s going on, but they convict and life rape anyhow.

We now live with the “Woman are Wonderful” syndrome and anything that even suggests otherwise will be subject to a book burning, along with the author.

All men are Tom Robinsons now. You’ll realize that if it ever involves the state in any capacity.
