    In Isaac Asimov’s galactic empire novels, a character known as Hari Seldon was a mathematician who coined the science of “psychohistory”, which entailed the useage of economics, history, psychology, politics and statistics to create formulae to roughly predict the future.  One may be critical of using terminology from science fiction, but consider: Issac Asimov was the man who coined the phrase “robotics”, the space opera, and many other things.  He was also a consultant for Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek, which inspired gadgets such as cell phones, tablets, and flat-screen monitors.
    Enthralled by the possibility of psychohistory, I began to consider how it would be constructed, and for years I had not much success.  Until recently.
    Perhaps the first rudimentary psychohistory theorem, it only applies to a civilizations achievement of “utopia”, whereas the population has no military/social struggles.  Our current society.
    The math is based upon the  Mouse Universe Experiments by Dr. John Calhoun, where 4 mice were introduced to a self-contained utopian environment.  As we know, white lab mice are used as human analogues in both physiology and psychology.  In their utopia, everything was provided: food, water, nesting materials, the only constraint being space.  The mice flourished for about 300 days, until society began to break down.  Baby mice were ejected from the nest early (childish millenial adults), female mice became violent (feminists) and male mice became unable to defend females and take part in mating, choosing solitary activities (us MGTOW).
    The last live birth was on the 600th day.  The society spiraled towards extinction.
    This lead me to the following formulae:

    D=C+(C-A)

    Simple, yet powerful.  The values of the variables have an implied deviation of +/- 10 years, which totals 20 years, or the duration of a generation.  The problem with psychohistory is that exact dates are not known.  It hits the target, yet hits the bull’s eye as often as a coin lands on its edge.  A holistic approach and perspective, percieving time beyond the lifetime of single people.
    C is defined by the time the symptoms have begun to become widespread in the civilization.  The past decade, so let’s say 2008.
    A is the time utopia was achieved.  We could say this is either when the soviet union fell, but the symptoms of C have existed on a smaller scale for quite a while, and considering in the calhoun experiments it took time for the symptoms to begin, let us call A 1950.
    D is the time of death of the society.

    So, D = 2008+ (2008-1950)
    D = 2066

    So, taking the deviation of variables into account, and if nothing is done, we can expect complete breakdown of society in the generation born between 2050 and 2070.
    I’d prefer to think that A is not 1990.  That would mean:

    D = 2008+(2008-1990)
    D = 2026, Death of society within the next 3 decades… which seems more likely, unfortunately.

    Good read and impressive theory- ultimately, the point becomes this simple one; who really cares about anything but oneself?
    The physical self has a definite shelf life, and will find the end of it’s own civilization in it’s time frame.
    Therefore, perhaps self actualization is the path, the refinement of the MAN.
    Not mankind.
    Because we all live on the clock.
    And doom is found in our own minds.
    Cheers.
