    Not sure if this is the right place to post this story of a Tasmanian senate stating on local radio that she is seeking a man who is
    – well hung
    – rich
    – doesn’t even need to speak!

    One can only imagine the media frenzy if a male politician made similar remarks in their search for potential ‘soul mate’ to the general public.

    @groovy

    Welcome to you. Post whatever you like wherever you like. We just provide the guideline(s) the rest is up to you. And you chose well.

    Groovy links! And thanks for sharing. Has the ingredients for a good article.

    Of course this starts for women with too much Walt Disney during early development. Where any perfectly generic man with no tongue (ever notice the prince rarely says a WORD?) is expected to come along, kiss her exactly the way she wants him to, and then whisk her off into his future for no apparent reason…. after she has been asleep on her back for the last 100 years.

    It’s not just a metaphor.

    I have no problem with her saying this because let her say what she wants, but my problem is how if a male politician said he wanted a woman who was a size 0 with big t~~~ the media would go crazy. I can just picture feminzai journalist’s fingerbanging themselves while writing the story because of how much damage they could do to his career and all the air time and site traffic they would be getting. I don’t follow news because I hate politics, but I ma going to guess that no feminist groups are outraged by this? No feminist group calling for her to step down? No feminist group demanding she apologize? Didn’t think so. That is just how politics work. You always support those on your side or who have done something for you because that is just how politics work.

    Its only a double standard if you’re comparing it between a male and female POLITICIAN. I stress that word because if we are not talking about the title in society that these people hold, then there is no double standard. A double standard between a man and a women would insist that they are equal creatures in all regards and therefore must have identical standards. Obviously, men and women are NOT equal creatures. Neither by design or evolution are we equal creatures, so we have different standards by default. If a women wants to be a politician, she needs to be held to the standards of all politicians, or bugger off! What she said is perfectly fine for a women to say, in a mead hall. Its not fine for a politician.
