I gather someone I went to school with has got married and has changed his surname to a double-barrelled surname, combining his surname with his wife’s. (His name came second.)
This is such bulls~~~. Aside from everything else, it’s a social timebomb. Wat if your child wants to get married to someone else whose parents also did this: are they then going to have a quadruple-barrelled surname? Will your great-grandchildren have eight surnames? After n generations, are you going to have people with 2 ^ n surnames, all joined together with hyphens?
I’m waiting for these blue pillers just to go the whole way and take their wife’s name. Pathetic. So grateful I escaped this madness.
There aren't holes in your pockets. It's called marriage.

Anonymous54What kind of pussy whipped little peice of s~~~ does that…
HahahWhats wrong with these idiots

Status obsessed thots and their simps have been doing this in the UK since the 1980’s. It’s based on the old assumption that anyone with a double barrelled surname must be upper class.
The “funny” thing is that Women “think” that they are making a statement by keeping “their” name. Well, “their” last name is still a Man’s Name.
Now, that lil cupcake is wearing her father’s last name in addition to her husbands.
It’s not like she can have a “female” last name. Even if she was the daughter of a Lesbian couple. Both of “their” names came from a Paternal lineage unless of course they just make up a new last name, but even then it’s still not of female lineage.
So, what’s the point ?
It’s just more stupid s~~~ that Women dream up, and think that it makes a f~~~in difference.
I have a sister in law that did the same thing because she wanted to keep “her” last name. Sorry, Cupcake “your” last name is really your fathers, but I don’t think that they can really figure this one out.

Anonymous42The theft of our rightful and lawful place in a thriving society is complete. The meltdown of everything stable true and pure is almost complete.
It’s no longer a man’s world unless he creates his own by himself.
Western society is dead, feminism drove it into the ground, the future belongs to either MGTOW or the suffering of this lethal affliction called feminism.

I wonder if that is a major thing in UK (pretenses of being upper class)?
I think it was around the 1770’s that non-rhotic speech came into fashion among the British upper-class, and thus the rest of British accents followed suit in non-rhotic speech. American accent changed less.
All my life I've had doubts about who I am, where I belonged. Now I'm like the arrow that springs from the bow. No hesitation, no doubts. The path is clear. And what are you? Alive. Everything else is negotiable. Women have rights; men have responsibilities; MGTOW have freedom. Marriage is for chumps. If someone stands in the way of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the heart-R'as al Ghul.

Yes, it still is.

Maybe they should invent new last names so they can have a female lineage. They could start with C~~~.
Betty C~~~ marries Mike Hunt. Mike Hunt changes his name to Mike C~~~.
That way, he can more obviously be a c~~~.

Hell, maybe they should just get rid of names for men entirely. In the future they’ll probably just assign men numbers. Tattooed on their arms.

Yup, exactly: double-barrelled surnames are associated with the upper classes, although to be honest there are so many of them now that I think the association is gradually going. And you’re spot on, Ranger One: rhoticity declined in the second half of the eighteenth century in British English.

Haha yes exactly! Loved this. 😀
I know one poor guy who was brought up by his feminist mother and grandmother. I understood it was a pretty “anti-man” household; he had a double-barrelled surname and I heard it was a combination of his mother’s maiden name and his grandmother’s maiden name. But of course those are just the names of his grandfather and great-grandfather…

I had not completely connected these dots, but that is exactly correct except in Jewish families. Western tradition is patrilineal.
Does this put feminists in the awkward position of defending Judaism while simultaneously rallying with Islam against Judaism? God I hope so.
Cupcakes are Cold. MGTOW is Absolute Zero.
“Let us wait a little; when your enemy is executing a false movement, never interrupt him” –Napoleon Bonaparte, 1805I don’t get why any guy would do this to themselves, because from my observations a hyphenated name means they are about 5x as likely to end up divorced. Signing up for a hyphenated name is like signing a divorce agreement before you even get married. Marriage is bad enough…why go for the bottom of the barrel marriage?

JustAnotherGuy: yes, it does. Speaking as someone who is partially an academic, and teaches a humanities subject in a university, I would say that feminism is not a coherent or consistent intellectual system.
However, that’s not something I could say in an academic environment without getting shouted down, which is one reason why I’ve one decided to remain only on the fringes of academia.
So much for free speech. Universities today, at least in the UK and US, are extremely stifled environments where certain “received wisdoms” cannot be challenged or subjected to rigorous critique.
For example, you might be interested in the outrage caused by a research project on “Ethics and Empire” at the University of Oxford recently. The project is an attempt to investigate the concept of empire through history in a balanced way, rather than simply dismiss it all as imperialism, as most lefty academics would. The project says this:
“In most reaches of contemporary academic discourse—not least in Theology, Religious Studies, Political Theory, Cultural Studies, and Post-Colonial Studies—the topic of ethics and empire raises no questions to which widely accepted answers are not immediately to hand. By definition, ‘empire’ is imperialist; imperialism is wicked; and empire is therefore unethical. Nothing of interest remains to be explored.
This project begs to differ. […] The purposes of this project are:
to trawl the history of ethical critiques of ‘empire’;
to test the critiques against the historical facts of empire; and thereby
to garner possible ethical resources for contemporary deployment.”
(http://www.mcdonaldcentre.org.uk/ethics-and-empire)That sounds perfectly reasonable to me (if a bit long-winded). But 170 academics condemned the project before it had even got going, saying it was “flimsy” and “politically motivated”.
(https://www.theguardian.com/education/2017/dec/22/oxford-university-accused-of-backing-apologists-of-british-colonialism)I can guarantee you that you’d get a similar outcry from the feminists and manginas if you tried to launch a research project into masculinity, proposing that masculinity is not simply “wicked”.
