Hey guys, it’s been a while. My job’s had me busy working 7 12s a week.

I work a lot. A LOT. I love this job and wouldn’t trade it for anything (unless that possible promotion I’m hearing about might happen).

For those that don’t know, I work in disaster recovery. I was in Florida for a few months, and made some good friends there. One, who happened to be my roommate in our paid-for condo, was a fellow fan of TFM, and that got us talking forever about those things. Couldn’t have asked for a better co-worker/roommate.

After I was finished there, I was given a two month break, then got sent to Alabama.

The co-workers here aren’t too bad either and I’m given time to myself most of the day except the end of the day.

When I’m all done wrapping up, the one female worker we have in here, the HR gal, demands that she’s not left alone in the office at night when everyone else leaves. The project manager tells me to stay with her until she’s ready to go…which can be 30 minutes to an hour after I’m done, nearing 9:00-9:30! Funny thing is, I get left alone by her some frequent nights. Gotta love workplace equality, eh? Didn’t know I was hired for security for someone.

As an HR person she should know better than to be alone late at night with just one male coworker. That should violate some kind of HR policy.

That said, glad to hear things are going well for you.

See, that’s MY concern but I don’t want to address that and cause more concern or dramatics. This project is over halfway done, so I can deal with it and I love the rest of it anyway. From my experience though, having to work near the HR chicks (because it’s ALWAYS a woman) is more trouble than good, and that’s why I tend to work from my hotel until I have to show up at the end of the day.

This probably violates some policy of one guy oe gal in the office late at night. You better be recording stuff or have a bodycam going. She could get you fired in a heartbeat, tell your boss you dont want to get fired being alone with her and her falsely claiming you did something, this is an important job. At least install a camera somewhere in the office to protect men from being framed.

Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

I’m getting a good feeling she’s not going to last long.

Soon after I posted my OP above during some downtime, I heard her tell our project manager to “do it himself” when told to restock the bathrooms. Hilarious. It would take her maybe 30 seconds to do it (the office space we’re renting is VERY small and people are only here in the morning and at night). I heard him let her have it by telling her to “do her job and just listen.” She’s a hired local, as we typically train city locals to help with budgeting.

This rings very familiar to my first project where we had another “sassy independent black woman” type that was doing HR work for us. She had a mouth on her and took days off when she felt like it (this chick is doing the same the next two days). They ended up cutting her and giving the position to me so I was working two positions, which in turn gave me more hours and a better reputation.

I take my job seriously and love it, and I’m getting on the current project manager’s good graces pretty well because I’m actually personable, and I don’t have to work around women too often, thankfully.

    We’ll see what happens here.

Bravo! Just be careful. You are a nothing. So protect yourself at all costs. The only value you have is that you make someone else money. Make sure to make something for yourself while you are at it.

You are all alone. If you have been falsely accused of RAPE, DV, PLEASE let all men know about the people who did this. http://register-her.net/web/guest/home

If she gets canned, she will want to have something to complain, and sue, about. better let the boss know you don’t feel safe being left alone with her.

That’s good to hear. She isn’t a traditional HR person then. She’s just doing the paperwork. And the boss won’t want to lose a good worker over someone that’s a temp pushing paper. You actually do things that make the company money.

I will say though that it isn’t too fair that it always falls on you. Unless it’s the new guy job until you guys hire someone newer than you.

I suppose to be fair, it typically falls on me because I’m one of the last ones out at the end of the day, but the part that isn’t too fair to me is that if they’re wanting someone to be there to cover for her for “safety reasons,” why wouldn’t they want the same for me? I mean, I don’t care at all and prefer to work alone (not to mention I’m licensed to carry and protect myself), but you’d think they would want a buddy system of sorts.

My co-worker/roommate would do that for one another and make sure we were safe. In that case though, I trusted that guy, and rightfully so. The dude had my back the entire project, as did the local we started training. I miss that team…

But anyway, if the locals don’t impress the company enough, they don’t stay on for very long. From what I’m hearing, I’m making them pretty happy, and I intend to stay that way. The HR gal is more, as you said, a filler to do the paperwork. She submits it all to the department at the end of the day and preps it for the next morning. She has zero effect on my position, thankfully. But I don’t believe I can be too careful.

    This.

All it takes is for her to get miffed about nothing and you are done.
