William Breeze and Lynn McCarey scheduled a custodial exchange on the afternoon of Feb. 18 on Pinto Trail involving their daughter.

Breeze threw a rock and hit the windshield of Zaragoza’s vehicle. McCarey and her daughter exited the vehicle, yelling at Zaragoza to leave

But Zaragoza pulled out a handgun and fired once at Breeze before the Alvarado man drove off

Breeze, 35, died from the gunshot wound to his chest at a local hospital

I never had to hand off the kid. Things never got hostile. Transfers were done at daycare and then at the school.

If you have to transfer at the police station. Always have a witness. Always. Otherwise you get the abuse accusation and a trip to the pokey.
