Southwest Sports Complex in Lakeland, Florida. (Lakeland Police Department via Facebook)
Florida police officers are warning people to double check what they post and share online after a man trying to help a lost child was vilified online as a presumed kidnapper when the story got twisted.
    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/06/27/accused-florida-kidnapper-was-actually-helping-lost-child-police-say.html
Police in Lakeland said it all began when a 2-year-old girl wandered away from her parents during a softball game at the Southwest Sports Complex on Saturday, Fox 13 reported.

A Good Samaritan, who was at the complex with a Polk Sherriff’s Office deputy, found the wandering toddler but she couldn’t tell him where her parents were.

“He saw that the child was in danger. She was wandering off and he did the right thing by going to her, getting her attention, trying to find the parents,” Lakeland Police Sgt. Gary Gross told the station. “We had an independent eyewitness that saw him walking around, asking, ‘Is this your parents? Is that your father?’”

Police said that as the man walked around the crowd with the girls in his arms, her parents were alerted, fearing that he was attempting to kidnap the child.
Her father, Austin Strickland, assumed the worst and attacked the man, punching him a half-dozen times.

“You’re damn right . I wanted to kill the man,” he told Fox 13. “You just don’t take someone else’s kid and walk to the parking lot or walk in that direction.”

if that jackass father was so protective of his kid… how the hell did she manage to get away and go wandering around alone?

Look, it's not my fault that tornado dropped a house on your sister. Now get back on your broom and get your ass out of here... and take your monkeys with you

What would have happened had the good Samaritan been a fighter?

    exactly.
that so called father is an asshole.
i wish he got charged with assault.
    .
the guy who found the kid should have called 911,
and handed the kid to the cops,
who would hand the kid to emergency medical services,
    kid would go to hospital,
and parents would have child services in their lives for a while.
    .

We’ve discussed this in the past citing various “hidden camera” and other so-called “reality” shows.

As a man, you simply cannot approach a child for any reason whatsoever because feminism has destroyed any chance that you won’t be automatically presumed to be a predator.

What you can do is what many of the men from those shows chose to do: Get a women to approach the child or, at the very least, keep the child under observation and contact the authorities.

While the child’s father in this case was an asshole, the man who chose to help the child was a fool. There were other ways he could have helped that didn’t result in several punches to the face and his character being assassinated on social media.

BOOM! Exactly, in this topsy turvy insane world the good guy gets banged out for doing the right thing.

Its a tough call this one. With hindsight the guy who found the kid should’ve enlisted the help of the nearest woman in his search for the parents. We all know how gooey broads get over little kids.

The lesson here IMO is step back, pause and think, then act if you think the risk is minimal to YOU first and foremost.

We men have been programmed since time began to rush in and save the helpless.

That world has gone, for now, so like the first rule of battlefield casualty management – DON’T BECOME A CASUALTY YOURSELF. Walk away if you have to.

Yup, just what I was gonna say. Were the parents even trying to look for her? Did they even notice that she’d disappeared?

When I was in year seven I noticed a year one girl crying outside a classroom. I went up and asked her what was wrong, and it turned out that she’d hurt her leg tripping. So I helped her to the school nurse.

It’s very alarming to think that if I’d done that today, I would not only be treated as a predator, but beaten up for it. Men are still expected to be chivalric, but every act of chivalry they perform is seen as potentially sinister.

That arsehole who attacked the poor guy? I hope his bitch leaves him and gets custody of the kid.

I recently saw a small child wander onto a main road. Cars were serving around the child, but no-one stopped.

I dialled police emergency and reported it. I said that I would keep the line open and the child under observation, but would under no circumstances touch it.

    Police operator: ‘I understand’.

A police officer eventually appeared and retrieved the child.

Yea I read this a few weeks ago actually. The good samaritan in this case actually had to move out of said town because he received all kinds of threats and accusations of being a pedophile. Like the old saying goes – no good deed goes unpunished.

And now that man knows better than to interfere with natural selection.
