I was dragged into court recently over passport/ term month long holiday for a child in senior high school.

What to do with the XYF’s self authored affidavit of her Jet setting lifestyle?

You know, Mutiple OS trips to Disneyland, handstanding the great wall of China, 6 week Europe vacations, a few weeks in New York.

The “I have to pay $280 000 AUD in private school fees ‘coz I enrolled them at expensive private schools against court orders.

Or “I have a mortgage” on her home (and business) and $42K credit cards maxed out…

Or the”I am getting no child support from the deadbeat dad” (no penalty for perjury in family matters….)

Then it struck me

Why not send the court document to the tax office with a query about how a struggling single mother can live with driving a leased $130 000 BMW X6 (all important for the private school drop off).- her 3 rd Beamer since separation 12 years ago. After all, a very quich query as to why all of this can happen on a taxable income of LESS THAN$38K per year over the last 7 years.

This is the same court that hears tax evasion charges too…

Nice! Here in the US the auditors sometimes do what is called a “lifestyle” audit. Just what you are talking about. They look at what the people drive, where they live, etc. And then basically come back to the taxpayer with “How can you afford a $500k house, two $60k cars, etc. on a $50k a year income?”

You can’t keep up on that lifestyle forever unless you’ve got a decent amount of money coming in. They use it as a beginning point on whether or not they should audit someone. It’s pretty rare, but if you drop it right in front of their face, who knows.

Make sure you take it to a guy auditor. A skirt will probably be p~~~ed at you for bringing it up and audit you.

Exactly Tax Guy, she has no “External money” other than redrawing home equity (the properties have doubled in price to be worth $2 000 000 since divorce). There is no way she is sub contracting three employees, being employed running fitness classes ON LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE. In fact with back taxes, penalties and mortgages her net worth is likely 0. Add that she has snookered herself so she can not refinance having no credit rating on such a low income. Greedy psychopathic bitch… And interest rates are headed up…

Tax Guy, she kicked me out my house, practice, took >70% of my s~~~ then poisoned my son so bad he tried to kill me. I will admit to nudging the wheel of Karma a little but Hell = how often does a criminal wrongdoer file an affidavit confirming their criminality with the appropriate Jurisdiction? (And that reminds me- part of her fraud COULD include receiving social security benefits).

The ATO love these types of cases.
They have many court cases, especially prostitution, gambling and drug seizure, car stealing rackets where idiots give themselves up for tax evasion with sworn, self incriminating evidence (admissions), in writing (affidavits) lol
A whole range of civil law cases also end up doing the same.

I know one recent case in Succession law where one of the beneficiaries claimed she’d been working in the family business for over 20 years and claimed she’d never been paid a cent. She went right into every aspect of her duties, responsibilities and workload. All in sworn evidence, in writing.
She didn’t realize the ATO doesn’t accept that people who work in business, do so for nothing. Nor does Centrelink or Workcover.
If you claim you get nothing they’ll work out an income for you! A very generous income too because they have a duty to cover the Australian taxpayer! They’ll back slide it 7 years as well. Then they’ll add penalty interest rates going back 7 years.

CenterlinK and the ATO also have an unwritten agreement from about 1994. Statistically, they found that people who cheat on tax had a far higher probability of cheating on welfare, and vice versa, so whenever the ATO or Centrelink catch someone and finish dealing with them, they hand it straight to the other.

A friend had a similar situation. Recent ex threatened to file separately bc it would cost him 10’s of thousands of dollars in taxes and penalties. All so she could get a few hundred as a refund.

I asked him a few questions and turns out she only worked 2 months during the year, of which they were still married, was going to deduct some home taxes, and claim their kids as an exemption. I told him he might benefit from talking to the IRS if she does that. I don’t know the legal ins and outs, but I’m pretty sure the ITS would be interested in her claiming exemptions on the house and kids he’s paying for, especially if she only worked for 2 months.

She eventually decided to file jointly and the issue was resolved.

A co-worker recently told me, "If you want to see who someone really is, divorce them." I have found out how true this is. When your wife drops the façade of being the caring partner, you will witness all of the greed, hate, and spite that she has masked. It is truly breathtaking!

Bravo. I’d also take the info to my Federal Member Of Parliament so they can stay on the ATO’s case and make sure they don’t sweep it under the gynocentric carpet. They have a habit of doing that.
