Do you just want to see the world burn?

Genuinely? I just want to see the crumble of this democracy and all other existent institutions fall. I see no use in being a help to the world when I can just confine in the comfort of my own life, doing the things that I seek to do before I die or this world dies. I’ll eat some popcorn and watch this society sink.

It’s pretty pessimistic of me, but it’s been running through my mind for a while.

It’s commensurate with saying:

… but on a grand scale.

In this case (to my understanding) simply meaning: I don’t owe anything to a society/culture that wants me to work myself to an early grave.

I enjoy participating in the world – for all its faults there are really cool people out there, amazing things to see and experience.

I know full well that things are basically a house of cards. It would be amazing if we made it through this phase of civilization without a collapse (might be possible with some significant technological innovation), but I’m not holding my breath.

Maybe when I’m ready to retire I’ll take the “sit back and watch it burn” approach. For now I’m having way to much fun trying to get as much as I can out of one of the most prosperous moments in human history.

Im not being a smart ass, Im honestly asking: what does this LITERALLY mean to you?

When guys say “let it burn” it fuels the female narrative that every guy on here is so anti-social and miserable that he wants the entire WORLD to die.

Not exactly a representation favorable to any one here.

In one sense, I do say Rome is burning. Though, I didnt light the fire, and Im left consuming the second hand smoke. Im not sure about the rest of you, but Im not privvy to an island I can be self-substaining on and simply enjoy the show. Im still relegated to the same laws, society, and economic system thats theoretically going up in flames. So, no: there is no “show” Im enjoying. I would have a sense of recourse if the idiots who put this s~~~-show into motion were cognizant that its going up in flames, but the fact that they arent only makes me boil more.

Male freedom yes – that definitely lets me take advantage of what the western world has to offer right now. There is a huge amount of wealth out there, and a lot of it is accessible. The key is to start a business, be it in technology or a trade, rental property, it does not matter. I’m not talking about owning yachts or anything. I’m talking about the fact that the sum of human knowledge is at our fingertips (internet). I’m talking about the fact that you can hop on a plane and be almost anywhere in the world inside 12 hours. Just with those two things alone, dude, you can do so f~~~ing much.

I say enjoy it while we can.

No. There is enough suffering and distress to go around. There is no need to add any more. On the other hand, I am at a loss to see what I can do to stop the ongoing brutality and general nastiness that is enshrined in human history.

My advice: Work on yourself. Straighten out your own head. Leave the external world to itself — except in those very few cases where your direct intervention can actually make a positive contribution. For me, this works out to: “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.”

All jokes aside, the world may me imperfect, and western society does indeed have its flaws (PC, laziness, big gvmt) but we are still doing better than at any time in our history and the possibilities are endless.

Yes, liberty is shrinking, but the fall of all institutions won’t bring about freedom, it will bring a short period of anarchy and then soon followed by tyranny.

The earth is not an isolated system. Energy keeps flowing from the sun, new matter keeps falling from the sky at a great rate, and we (will)have the ability to travel to other planets to exchange matter and energy.

That does not mean that the extremes will ever be reached. Zero Enthalpy (i.e. the WHOLE world burning) is highly unlikely without the sun exploding, Even extreme chaos is highly unlikely given the self preservation nature of most humans. Given that we can generally foresee at least imminent threats, the humans as a whole will adapt and survive, even though we will surely have our ups and downs, maybe even nuclear wars.

Are you f~~~in s~~~ting me??? I’m covered head to toe in the burn scars of corruption, I’ve been watching this world burn since almost as long as I can remember! Personally I gave up on trying to change things for the better for others pushing for the worst!
Our society is becoming fully engulfed in the flames of corruption, ill will, and deceit! I’m wrapped in wet towels laying in my foxhole watching the sparks, embers, and flames go by.
