I understand that you are working on improving the website and that’s cool.
What I don’t understand is the lack of information when requested as I couldn’t log in for a long time and had no idea what was going on. I e-mailed and contacted you through the site Contact Form several times in the process of trying to find out what was happening but I got no response.
Then I tried to find my profile without being logged in and couldn’t find it so I thought it was deleted.
I participated to a Zoom cession just to find out what was going on and was told of many issues with admin, members and so-called “leaders” that left me confused and sad. I learned of another MGTOW website and reluctantly signed up thinking mgtow.com was dead or had serious issues with servers or god knows what else that wouldn’t be fixed quickly if ever. No info, just blind assumptions and uneducated conclusions.
I had to write another one of those f~~~ing intros too! Uuugh!!
I found a lot of my MGTOW brothers on that site and it reinforced the thought that this website was dead.
I read a few negative comments about this place and you in particulars and I thought “what have I missed?” “How could mgtow.com go to s~~~s so fast?” Again, no info, just blind assumptions and uneducated conclusions.
Then just today I tried to log in and saw your post /forums/topic/aug-9-update-important-solution-to-login-probs/#new-post and I have to say the whole thing made me shake my head in disbelief and frustration. I was finally able to log in but now I have to say it doesn’t matter to me as much.I know – and your lack of a reply shows it – that I’m not as important a member to this place but still, a little information would have gone a long way, Keymaster, if even with a short acknowledgment of the issue or good receipt of my communications at least… Unless Untamed isn’t welcome at mgtow.com anymore which wouldn’t be the only place I’m not welcome, I’m used to it by now.
As it is now and directly due to that, I shall only log in once in while to see if anything exciting happens on here if at all. Most of the MGTOW brothers I know from here have gone over there anyway.
To those who’ll jump on this occasion to beat up on me just know one thing: I don’t give a flying f~~~ about your negative opinions in this thread.
The only opinion I’ll read on this subject is Keymaster’s.If I finally was able to log in and I should be happy and shut up then okay.

I mean, if someone doesn’t answer their phone, I tend to assume they’re in the bathroom or something. But that’s just me.

Yes, even I began to think that there is something seriously wrong here and started worrying like I always do when YT channels go down.
I really imagined that KM might have found the new market niche of breeding pure bred cats as a source of income… (I would do it if I didn’t have chemical sensitivity, these cats go for 1000’s of bucks a shot)

I work in IT, as a developer. In an environment where there are many users of what is developed. If someone has a problem, even if it is PEBKAC (problem exists between keyboard and chair), guess who has to fix it? And if its 5 or 6 users…?
But here… several thousand…
All my life I've had doubts about who I am, where I belonged. Now I'm like the arrow that springs from the bow. No hesitation, no doubts. The path is clear. And what are you? Alive. Everything else is negotiable. Women have rights; men have responsibilities; MGTOW have freedom. Marriage is for chumps. If someone stands in the way of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the heart-R'as al Ghul.
It’s called patience. I knew the site was f~~~ed and I assumed it would be fixed eventually. I’m surprised it took as long as it did, but I run a few websites of my own and I know how difficult certain problems can be to fix. This site has thousands of members. Expecting a personal reply is a little conceited. Do you want him to work on fixing the problem, or replying to whiny c~~~s that feel entitled to a website that they don’t own, support, or pay for?
That being said, I think @keymaster was way out of line not putting up a public notice on the homepage. I know there was a notice on the login page, but that notice never really changed and it seemed like the people that couldn’t log in were just forgotten about and/or the issue was being ignored. The notice saying that it was “fixed” when it so obviously wasn’t was disheartening, and he should have noticed that it wasn’t fixed after a day or two. Then we got the notice that a big update was going to go through on the 1st, but nothing after that. FINALLY 8 days later the message changed and the login form worked again.
You can’t leave people hanging like that and expect everyone to just stick it out. If you had continued changing the message and keeping everyone up to date, I’m sure people would have stuck with you for weeks or even months if necessary. But the lack of communication and not changing the messages was worrisome. I patiently waited it out. I sent one message the first time I couldn’t log in and left it at that. I wasn’t expecting a personal response to my message. But the least you could have done was taken 5 minutes of of your life to change the message every day or two and keep us updated on the situation.
I’m not mad at you. I don’t feel entitled to use this website. I’m just sad because I’m sure we lost some good members and it would have been so easy to avoid that. Oh well. What’s done is done. I just hope you handle it differently next time there’s a major problem with the site.

Yes, it must a daunting task. Things that can go wrong will go wrong.
But how hard is it to let your users know through mass e-mailing? Doesn’t he have our e-mail addresses? Doesn’t he check his mail?
I know he was sick for a time and I suspect keeping mgtow.com up and running is a bitch but if he bit off more than he could chew then wouldn’t it be better for his sanity if he hung it up, let others do the work or scrap the whole thing altogether? #GenderSegragationNow!I agree that more and better updates during the access issue would have been preferable. However I think preferable is the right word not essential. We don’t get everything we would prefer in life and we don’t have a right to expect it either.
If this site had been a service essential to my business, I would probably have changed my supplier as a result of the recent problems. This would have been not because of the problem itself but the way it was handled -either the lack of straight up information about the problem or the slow investigation into the problem. (We can’t know which it was).
However this is not a professional service to business. This site is not essential to our working lies. This is something someone has made with a great deal of love, to be a resource for all and which I understand is not something which turns a great profit or which is a full time business. As such I feel this is not something to get angry about or to be disappointed about.
I do not think of KM as a service provider but as the leader of this group, which is essentially a social club where we meet in spare time. Some people pay a small subscription to KM but a that is fairly ordinary for a club of any sort. What one expects in a club setting is very different from a professional one. Your life and your work should not interfere with a professional service you provide. However everyone forgives a club official when life or work stops him performing his duties optimally from time to time and that is a time to rally round him and offer to help not criticise him. I was quite shocked by the way people laid into KM. If this had been a club where we met face to face I can’t imagine this having happened.
If KM wants to take MGTOW to the professional level, he may need to improve the service angle but while it remains a dam fine amateur club, hats off to the man. He has given this amazing clubhouse to meet in. I am very grateful that he got the locks on the doors fixed and we could all come back in.

I’m guessing KM thought we were more mature and self sufficient than we are. It’s a message board for men doing their own thing. Can’t log in, just keep doing your own thing.
Yeah, it sucked not being able to log in. Yes, the notices were sparse regarding their actions to remedy the issue. Once I knew that staff was aware of the issue, that was it. Let them solve the issue rather than post useless updates.
Did members bail, probably. Jumping ship at the barest instance of adversity, unable to log in to a website, doesn’t bode well. Criticize at will. I have my own criticisms. I think we have all gained some perspective from this.
A co-worker recently told me, "If you want to see who someone really is, divorce them." I have found out how true this is. When your wife drops the façade of being the caring partner, you will witness all of the greed, hate, and spite that she has masked. It is truly breathtaking!

Exactly.
I know myself what it is like to have “too many jobs to do at the same time” and customers running off because you can’t serve them all at once. That is in peak times. And then you can’t employ people for handling the overhead since you can’t keep these (costly) employees busy during the quiet times of the year.
So I always told customers to give orders outside of Easter and Christmas time… That was my way of time management as a “one man show”. And since I was doing work that customers wanted me to do personally, I could never get (unqualified) helpers on the site. But that’s the drawback of having a quasi-monopoly on a certain field. You simply can’t outsource it.
And you can’t outsource a “non-PC” website without doxxing yourself. And best if KM stays a ghost and nobody ever knows who he is… Or this site will be in jeopardy.
My heaviest concerns about the site came because our Kindergarten Cop was gone for about a year prior to that incident. And this is what leads many members to believe that the site might no longer be of his interest and could be switched off soon.
And some of us thought that: If you do an update, you normally do a mirror (data backup) before running it. So you can roll back all changes within hours if you have to.
(I am currently starting to learn WordPress and heard that on some trainings)(Make a backup before installing plugins that might mess up the site)
So why was there no roll-back to the old state?
We were worried and as the weeks passed we simply grasped it as the possible truth of this site going under.

Always run major updates on a hidden “ghost” domain. And ask some close “faithful and trusted” users to check it out. While the old site keeps running until all members have been switched over. And the new site is proven to be stable and bug-free.
That is what we were told about MGTOW.vip.
And I was looking forward to “benchmarking” that site with my cat pics and videos. I was hoping the “toolbar-loss bug” would go away (whenever I post archive.org videos I lose my text toolbar).

I will make my “WordPress” experiments on a local “next room” server… Before I go live with anything.
Same as I did with my existing web sites in html and flash. (Historic pages).
But I always made a local publish to benchmark the entire site and click wildly through the links (with the cache switched off)
I know that this WP forum here is a lot more complicated.
I hate breakdowns that usually happen when you least need them. Sleeping in the office – instead of doing the year-end bookkeeping – waiting for the PC to restore from image…
But most of my PC’s have a second OS installed ready to use if one gets corrupted. (Second hand Win 7 Pro and Ultimate licenses are cheap now)…
Hit F8 in boot (ASUS) and the PC runs again. And it only takes 233 GB from one of the 7 x 1 or 2 TB HDD’s of the unit. (Make the “B-System” a hidden partition on the “A-System” so any virus cannot see it…)
