So, I got diagnosed with something called familial hypercholesterolemia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Familial_hypercholesterolemia if you’re interested). Basically, it’s a genetic mutation that causes my LDL cholesterol to be abnormally high. Luckily I don’t get any noticeable side-effects from the medication I’m on and my blood-work now seems good.

However, this was another reminder on staying on the MGTOW path. I’m 27, and sometimes I feel like I will live forever. However, I will 100% surely die, sooner or later. The time I have on this earth, be it a long life or a shorter one, I will spend on my own pursuits. I’ll do my best, exercise and fix my diet to the best of my abilities, but if that’s not enough and I die early from a heart attack, then f~~~ it. I consider myself luckier that your average married man, who might outlive me in years, but I’ll surely outlive him in time well spent.

    Peace brothers.

I tend to be very skeptical of any and all diagnoses. Question everything. Not to live in denial, but the amount of American/Westerners who pop pills for any little ailment is astronomical.

… so much so that I went into a pharmacy to buy shaving stuff, and a woman with a clipboard once surveyed me what kind of medication I take. When I said “NONE”, she refused to believe me. REFUSED. How f~~~ed up is that. She thought I was pulling her leg, because apparently EVERYONE else is popping something.

Do the best you can with what you have. Treat your body well. Live your best. You have MANY great years ahead.

    Peace brothers.

Right back to you, my friend.

Ask your doctor which one of your ldl is high.

There are 2 types of ldl. One is a big fluffy kind, the other is a smaller, denser type. If it is the larger, less dense ldl, that is good, that is welcomed. If it is the smaller denser type, that is not, great but can be reduced by diet, basically upping antioxidants.

Also ldl and hdl are not actually cholesterol themselves, they are high density lipoproteins and low density lipoproteins. One group transports cholesterol to a damaged area that needs shielding while it repairs itself, the other transports cholesterol away after an area is healed. The liver creates and recycles it to be used as needed throughout the body. Either as cholesterol, or other processes change it into things like vitamin d, other hormones, etc.

    Thanks guys. Highly appreciated.
I’ll book an appointment with a lipid specialist. Hopefully he will be updated on current research, as I’m leaning towards carbs being the bad-guy, not cholesterol in and of itself. But I’m still in my research phase and still know jack s~~~ about this stuff. As for now I will continue to eat unprocessed whole foods, exercise and meditate daily. And last but not least – not invite female drama into my life. That would probably cause heart issues sooner or later, regardless of my cholesterol levels…

Clue: Doctors are human beings and they will lie—take a look at how many drug reps are in his waiting room compared to the number of patients.

Refined carbs and processed/refined sugars are the issue. Combined with not enough antioxidants.

Watch the health documentary “Fat Head”. It explains quite bit you will be interested in. Concerning cholesterol and a whole bunch of other things about diet health.

You can find it free on streaming internet, maybe even directly on youtube.

Thank you guys. Yes, I have already downloaded fathead. I’m becoming more and more convinced about the benefits of a low-carb / high fat diet in combination with fasting for general health. However, I might have to go against all advice given to me by my doctor in order to test i.e. a ketogenic diet or a primal / paelo diet. I know the lipid hypothesis is wrong, but I’m just a bit scared of basing my decision of going for example with a low carb diet on studies based on normal, healthy people, whereas my condition has been diagnosed by genetic testing and it came back positive.

But hey, I will at least learn a lot about nutrition due to this!

So, I got diagnosed with something called familial hypercholesterolemia

Father in law (ex) has cholesterol over 300 and triglycerides in 1500s all his life. He is in his 90s and tough as a badger. So don’t believe everything you hear.

It may be time to read, learn and educate yourself about the foods you are eating…

Once you start reading and learning, you quickly realize that take-out, drive-through and most boxed/processed foods at the grocery are awful for you long-term.

Once I switched to cooking my own food and using mostly organics 2 years ago, this is what happened:
    – lost 50 pounds in 8 months
    – Allergies went away completly
    – only need 6 hours of sleep, before I needed at least 8
    – wake up energized, not tired
    – Haven’t caught the Flu/Colds since

You would be amazed at how powerful your immune system and well-being can be when you eat foods that are nutrient dense (organics) and free of all the chemicals (additives/preservatives).

also, you mentioned fasting to improve your health.

I’ve done several juice fasts in my life over the years, the longest Juice fast being for 3 weeks.

If you have questions about fasting, I’d be glad to give you some guidance. Just ask away

a low-carb / high fat diet in combination with fasting for general health.

Intermittent fasting is not only good for the body, it’s great for the mind too.
Eat as much carbs (not sure about potato or white rice) as you like BUT NO PROCESSED CARBS, ESPECIALLY SUGAR, they’re addictive. Our brains and digestive systems haven’t evolved to cope with them yet.

Saturated fats are terrific, eat as much as you want. We’ve been eating them for millions of years.
The best most healthy food there is for people, is their own fat. Millions of years of evolution have evolved it that way.
