Natalia Potanina was married to Vladimir for 30 years until their marriage broke down in 2013; the divorce was backdated to 2007 as this was when Vladimir insists the marriage was over.

Everything that businessman Vladimir Potanin achieved, earned and acquired, everything that Vladimir Potanin is known for, happened during the marriage.

Ms Potanina has already been awarded $4.8million from the sale of a luxury apartment in central Moscow, along with three plots of land in the region. But she claims her former husband has secreted the rest of his wealth in a series of offshore companies to stop her from accessing it. Mr Potanin has previously told Moscow courts that he is no longer a billionaire, is down to his last millions and living on a salary of $480,000 a month. Forbes estimates that Mr Potanin is worth $13.4billion, which would make him Russia’s fourth richest man.

Now Natalia has launched a legal bid for half of the metal magnate’s $15 billion fortune.

She is quoted saying: My biggest wish is to stop the fight and the court war. I would like to come to a peaceful agreement.

Sounds more like her biggest wish is to fleece her husband out of $15 billion to me…

I’m with @awakened. There’s no way that she was worth 15 Billion over the course of the marriage, but he would suffer the way normal guys do if he gave up 90 percent to her.

Guy has $5 net worth at time of separation? Ex-wife gets $2.50. Guy has $5,000,000,000 net worth at time of separation? Ex-wife gets $2,500,000,000.

They will be both rich, but:
-did that women help the guy to get that rich?
-Of course a billionaire will not live in his car, but I guess those billions are not in a bank safe as cash, but as some business company or whatever lik that. And it means, he, as a business owner and boss, is responsible for the future of whole thing, including employees, factories, offices, any assets and tools and that stuff. If the exwife gets half of everything, how responsibly would she handle that? It’s complicated situation. Better to pay out the exwife in cash and not in stocks, so she cannot f~~~ with his bussiness anymore. But taking out huge cash from a running bussiness can make things unstable. He does not want to cause a chain reaction of his family drama to his employees families for sure, he needs the bussiness going.
