Deference to Big Ole Gals

Question of the Day:  Why do people seem to be so damn sympathetic to fatty women?

Background: At a business training event in a large hotel conference room.  Air conditioning is blasting way more then necessary making it uncomfortably cold.  Around 45 people attending minus speakers.  In the front center of the room, a group of 6 women, one man who are…..shall we say a wee bit shy of being the size of small planets all sitting together (perhaps the added weight caused a stronger gravitational pull amongst these beasts thus causing them to be attracted to each other? Nah really it was that the center had long tables with less legs so was the only place for our mighty, hefty heroes to be able to comfortably sit).  Anyways, the master of ceremonies so to speak realizes the uneasiness of the cold air and goes up on stage and asks if they should adjust the temperature.  While almost everyone is in agreement that it is way too cold, surprise surprise the outspoken Jabba the Hutts loudly assert that in fact they wouldn’t mind if the AC could be cranked a little higher.  The guy on stage, in an obviously confused state of indecision,  meekly says he will see if he can get the staff to lower the thermo staff.  This despite practically 30 + people complaining that it is too freakin’ cold.  Amongst the protests of the majority, one big ole’ gal, we’ll call her Humongor the Mighty Elephant, simply justifies her  stance by turning (and I mean literally having to turn her whole body because a mere twist of the head would most certainly result in death by suffocation via face-being-engulfed in upper back fat) and saying “yall don’t understand, I’m a big girl (as if we couldn’t tell by the shadow of darkness being cast by her mountainous stature) and I ain’t like the rest of you skinny people, I get hot.” As I struggle to repress my urge to yell “she’s beached, the mighty beast has beached”, I think better of it as I am sitting next to one of my company’s female, also fairly chubby executives and realize any negative comments will surely lead to career ending results (trust me this is a big step for me as far as professionalism goes).  Anyways, it strikes me that people seem to defer to the fatties in most cases such as this and I simply don’t know why.  Sure I get that you’ve got enough insulation on your body to protect NASA’s shuttles re-entering the atmosphere and that your internal body temperatures are hotter than a pornstar’s crotch but why should your blobiness of body be given greater consideration then the rest of us?  Thoughts?

I can’t figure it out either. If fat women are so desirable, then how come all those TV and movie actresses work so hard to stay skinny?
