…work until it’s all paid off! That’s what I’ve decided to do. I hate the experience of owing money. In the past, I used to make minimum wage, and I’d borrow money from relatives to get by. That was a humiliating experience. Now I have a few credit cards, a student loan, and a personal bank loan to pay off. It’s frustrating to see these items on my list of bills and I often think of what I could buy for myself if I wasn’t making payments on these loans. So I’m just going to tough it out in the next few years and live a frugal, simple life. I’m going to go to work, give people a greeting and a fake smile, and hammer away.

The good news is: when I pay off one credit card, I can double up on the payments for the next one. When I see the progress I’ve made next year, I’ll feel better. And my credit score will get higher to boot. Right now, the internet is my main source of education and entertainment. I try to stay indoors because if I drive around this city, I’ll be tempted to waste money.

I love reading the debt-free posts here and I look forward to someday adding one of my own!

Sounds like a good plan. Definetely post your success story here when you annihilate that debt.

Depends on how much (non-student)debt you have. If you have a lot (which doesn’t sound like) – the real MGTOW way to go about it – is to have it written off. Paying your debts off is blue-pillish behavior IMO

Debt was one thing I can’t believe I got out of. I had to pay the minimal on each of those cards and when one got paid off, I was able to put more towards the other ones. Once my debt cards were paid off January 2013, I cut all but my highest credit limit cards up into confetti, and threw them in the trash.

I haven’t had a single month since January 2013 where I couldn’t pay the entire bill off in a single month. I only charge on that 1 only card as long as I already have the money to deposit into my account and pay it off within 7 days after purchase. It’s the same rule I have with eBay selling “you pay me within 7 days.”

Even though I’m not working right now and I’m living on SSI because I’m autistic, I’m a moderate spender, but I’m also a saver. Since starting SSI back in October, I built up $5,900, which I have $3,000 left + the price of that computer when it sells. Even though the numbers are lower than if I had been lucky to get a job, I save more than I spend. I want a house some day (no apartment for me), and I’m letting that $3,000 grow with each time money comes in, even if it’s not much.

My point is when you get out of debt, turn your back on the debt you once had, don’t look back, don’t do it again, and spend with what you have (not what you haven’t gotten yet). Once you have cash, and no debts, you’re a free man. In fact, I feel a lot happier without those credit debts than when I thought back then not being able to get out of it. I still can’t believe I pulled it off.

I lived for a few years with only a mattress, minibar, desk/chair and PC. Cheap healthy meals everyday. Then I got luxurious and bought a blender. Should have bought a stove, though, so meals could be even cheaper. You can do it.

Celebrate every debt reduction payment. It took me until I was 31 to pay it all off. I had the full slate, student loan, truck, credit cards. I was blessed to have a good job and great bonuses. Each year I got my bonus, I watched as my peers went on luxurious vacations, upgraded vehicles, added on to homes etc.
    .
    That wasn’t my path.
    .
I took every bonus I had for 6 years and made full lump sum payments on my debts. After a while, you get accustomed to just doing the right thing with your windfalls. I got two more bonuses before I walked away from my blue pill hell corporate job. I just took the money and threw it on my asset pile. Still haven’t spent any of it.
    .
Fast forward to age 34, and I’m heading out for the weekend to try to put a deal together to buy 40 acres of land for a hunting camp and cabin. If it works out, I’ll put 50% down, and have the other 50% in easily liquidated assets until I see fit to wipe out the loan. If the bullion markets can claw out 20% growth over the next couple years, I’ll pull the trigger and own it free and clear.

I’m living like that right now. My bedroom is pretty simple: a mattress, coffee table, chair, TV tray, lamp w/ lampstand, and a fan.

I have no girlfriend. I couldn’t afford to keep one if I wanted to. I see guys who make less money than me with a girlfriend…wow. I wonder how they can afford to buy s~~~ for these ladies. There’s single moms who make less money than I do. I don’t know how the hell they get by either. I only have to pay for myself and I can’t afford to have any fun or fix up my cheap car.

I’m living like that right now. My bedroom is pretty simple: a mattress, coffee table, chair, TV tray, lamp w/ lampstand, and a fan.

After you do that for a while you realize you really don’t need much more stuff. That’s pretty much how my condo is right now…desk, pc, couch in the living room…bed and a dresser in the bedroom. I haven’t bought more furniture because I don’t need it lol.

I have no girlfriend. I couldn’t afford to keep one if I wanted to. I see guys who make less money than me with a girlfriend…wow. I wonder how they can afford to buy s~~~ for these ladies.

They go into massive debt for it. I try to avoid talking about finances with most people because they’ve dug themselves into ridiculous amounts of debt over stupid things and can’t even fathom how one could be debt free. Meanwhile I’ll go hop in my car I bought used and go home to my small condo while they have a car payment bigger than my mortgage and a 2500+ square foot house. Most people just don’t get it. Even something as simple as a smart phone…people will dump 100 bucks a month on a cell phone bill then complain they can’t afford to save a nickel for retirement.

There’s single moms who make less money than I do. I don’t know how the hell they get by either.

Child support and/or welfare. Single moms with little kids are often much better off than single moms after their kid turns 18 lol.

I’m in the same boat as you. I have student loan debt and other debt (mainly for dental reasons). I hate the feeling of owing people money. If i could do it all over again, I would’ve gone into a trade instead of college. At least they get hands on experience plus certifications to boot.

I used to live the blue pill dream, brand new car every 2 years on finance and living on my credit cards. Before I even found MGTOW I woke up one day and realised how much I hated paying interest and being in debt. After this epiphany I sold the car, paid off the loan and slowly but surely paid off my credit cards. Have to say, not being in debt is a much nicer feeling that driving a brand new car out of the showroom.

What you are doing is called the debt avalanche, paying off the highest interest debt first and then once paid off moving on the next one.

What Went Camping is saying is spot on and is exactly the same conclusion I have come to. Totally agree about feeling bad when you spend money, I only do it when I absolutely have to and even then I do my research and ensure I am paying the cheapest price.

I never carry cash as this stops you buying those impulse things that add up to hundreds each month. I do have a credit card but the balance is zero and I never carry it around with me.

    to control…

    Tv, kill it.

Food. Set a menu and stick to it.
Eggs vs steak…protein is protein. Fuel.

Learn to cook and keep those dishes done.

    Zero take out.

    Make your own coffee.

Annualize each item. What is your annual coffee cost of take out vs making your own.

Learn to say no to EVERYTHING.

CHEAP BASTARD BUDGET AND BE PROUD OF IT.

    No to vacations…go camping.

    No women = no debt

    Plan your mileage well.

    Kill all magazines.

Feel bad when you open your wallet. Not even an ice cream cone. One of those you get a whole carton.

Think different… spending and debt = slavery.

    Do the opposite of mangina.

Never use your credit card ever again. Tape it up and label it…FOR EMERGENCY ONLY. DEBT = SLAVERY.

    Get a whole new attitude.

Change your mgtow focus from red pill and women to red pill and debt/spending.

All this is perfect advice, I would also add that I only use cash for pretty much everything now (except automated bills). All the change I have left over I save and usually by the end of the year I have a couple grand in coins which I reinvest back into stocks that pay me dividends.

If you are disciplined with your spending regardless, try to get a credit card that offers rewards. I’ve built up 120 dollars worth of cash rewards in the last year and haven’t paid them a dime in interest because I pay it off on time each month. I can have them cut me a check any time I want, or have them apply it towards a future bill.
