Newspapers all over the country are gasping final breaths, and the LA times votes to go union. Lol, what is the union going to negotiate? The rate of pay cuts and layoffs to keep the paper afloat.

Los Angeles Times gets union, loses publisher

The union must now negotiate for a collective bargaining agreement. The union said it will seek better pay and benefits as well as “pay equity for women and people of color, greater diversity and better working conditions” for reporters, copy editors, graphic artists and photographers.

WHO even reads “print” news rags anymore ?

I rarely even physically see newspapers in society anymore.

Maybe, they have a strong online presence where they can make some advertising cash, but I can’t really see that increasing expenses (IE: salaries and benefits) isn’t going to do anything but drive the last few nails through the “papers” coffin.

The LA Times should be thrilled to have organized labor!

I don't hate women. I just feel better when they're not around.

Haha yeah, because more diversity is exactly what it will take to save that liberal s~~~rag.

They’re finished either way. It’s exactly what they deserve. This is just a death rattle.

Ellsworth Toohey would feel SO PROUD of them…

"We didn't start the fire. It was always burning. Since the world's been turning" "A world that vilifies men only breeds a generation of men that feel no empathy towards women" “In a woman’s mind , there is really no such thing as a ‘we’. In her eyes, earth allways revolves around her, not the other way around. So thinking that your needs , aspirations or desires are valid enough to be persued, or even that you are entitled achive such goals, is like asking your boss for a pay rise in your very first day at the job.”

That’s what I thought until a couple of friends gave me the sales pitch.
Turns out, my paper ( decent to large Midwest city) does great coverage of local stories. It’s actually been nice to get the paper again and read some input about local stories. For example they did a story about a cold case murder that was 40 years old – interesting read.
And even though it’s a middle of the road to slight left leaning paper, the articles I read are generally neutral biased.
I also enjoy the opinion page with the letters to the editor.

What I’m saying, if you enjoyed reading a paper before, give it another try. You might be pleasantly surprised.

    Just rolling down the road
