My dad has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He’s old and I don’t know if he’ll survive this. I’ll be visiting him soon. If you can afford to see a doctor, please get checked.
"I saw that there comes a point, in the defeat of any man of virtue, when his own consent is needed for evil to win-and that no manner of injury done to him by others can succeed if he chooses to withhold his consent. I saw that I could put an end to your outrages by pronouncing a single word in my mind. I pronounced it. The word was ‘No.’" (Atlas Shrugged)
Wishing you and your father all the best.
If it hasn’t gotten out of his prostate yet, have the entire prostate removed. He will be fine without it. Today you they can do a prostate removal through a 2 inch cut.
Just don’t wait. Haul ass and have your father have that out. With the prostate removed and some targeted chemo or radiation he could have a full long life.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion, it is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning; it is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
Best wishes to your Dad. And thank you for getting the word out. Brothers – the brief discomfort of a prostate check is more than worth it.
Sorry to hear that man. Hoping for the best for your dad.
Wish you both the best with this s~~~.
Just had my first exam earlier this year.
I could not afford it, but I was able to get help through the Free Clinic here in NC.
The stuff I had to go through to get approved was not that tedious.
So, even if you can’t afford it, perhaps that may be an option for someone.

I was diagnosed when I was 57. Because I was relatively young, I had a procedure known as brachi-therapy. A procedure where short lived radioactive pellets are inserted into the tumours in your prostate. Yeah, I know how that sounds but you are anesthesized for the process. My doctor said that if I was older, say 70 plus he would advise doing nothing so depending on his age, maybe nothing needs to be done. Prostate cancer is very slow moving. And, once again guys, if you are over fifty, get a check up.
Anonymous0Do NOT do the radiation seeds.
Removal and be aware when they rejoin the tubes they will scar over and you cannoy pee.
Weeell…..I was made aware of that at the time and it has been almost 8 years since the procedure and I don’t seem to have any problems with peeing or setting off airport scanners. Ejaculation is not an issue although less often which I write of to my age. I was pronounced cancer free three years ago. To be sure, it is an individual choice and there are many therapies available. Help your Dad to investigate them.
Best wishes to your father !
Thanks for the well-wishes, guys. My dad is kind of stubborn when it comes to taking advice from doctors. He has to do things his own way. My mom nags him about taking his medication. Maybe I can help him, maybe not. I just want to spend a few days hanging out with him in case this is the last time I get to see him alive. This situation seems unfair because he has spent the past 20 years eating healthy food. I guess anyone can get cancer.

I agree. I don’t like the thought of something being stuck in my ass, but if it will save me from more suffering in the future, I may as well do it.
Please take care of yourselves, guys. Eat some fruit and drink water to flush the toxins out.

I don’t know if it’s standard operating procedure, because of my health issues this year, all I know is they put me under for my colonoscopy.
I didn’t like the thought either, but in actuality, it’s like it didn’t even happen.
I made a game out of it trying to fight off the sleep gas while watching the monitor.
Edit: I do 7 day colon cleanses every now and then. I don’t know how much it helps, but I figure it’s better than not doing it.
