I would agree unless the cure or treatment is unproven, not shown to help very much for the money/effort/pain, and/or potentially dangerous. You cant force people to take a dangerous treatment or treatment that doesn’t do much, if they have decided the risk is too much for them.

Some while ago, deaf activists tried to prevent the introduction of a medical implant that would enable many deaf children to hear. They actually said that they wanted more people to be born deaf.

I recall many years ago reading a science fiction story in which ‘normals’ were punished by being made to wear heavy weights, vision-impairing goggles and loudspeakers in their ears. Predictably, the writer was a marxist.

Recently in UK schools, children have been encouraged to do just this, so they ‘understand disability better’.

‘Ableism/ableist’ and ‘differently abled’ are already common phrases.

A recent post on this site recently highlighted the promotion of multiculturalism in UK TV adverts. There is a similar campaign promoting the diseased and physically defective.

The liberals who gave out all the “rights” to the disabled and to women seem to have been blind to consequence. If you favour the incapable, you make incapacity preferable to capacity. It is natural human behaviour to treat those who are less fortunate kindly -it could be any of us one day but to treat them better than those who are actually supporting them is just madness.

The future always did belong to those who were strong enough to take it. If you are strong, breed and raise strong children. Nature has only been suspended, not conquered. There will be a reckoning and the future will belong to the strong -strong, healthy, mentally balanced, intellectually capable, loyal and caring are the characteristics that prevail in time.

How far should this go? What if a parent smokes around a child, or fails to give them a decent diet and exercise. I don’t want to pay for any one’s bad parenting. It’s a natural problem with insurance, or the single payer crap people want to move towards. Asking for people to pay your medical bills naturally comes with granting other people (the government) to decide on your medical care.

Agree with this. However, wouldn’t that also mean you can’t make other people pay for all your maintenance drugs and such you’ll need/want since you aren’t taking the potential cure treatment?
