The 80s. Movies and music that can never be matched.

    Nice list there ResidentEvil7.

I would definitely add to that list: Bloodsport with Van Damme and soundtrack by Paul Hertzog. What a combination of cheesy action and 80s synths (Yamaha FM7 or some other frequency or phase modulation synth if I am correct (sounds like it to me anyway)).

I came of age in the 80’s and am still enthralled with the music today. I like a lot of the eccentric side B pieces as well… the whole Iron Eagle soundtrack (just saw that movie again the other day and was reminded of it), Most of the Top Gun soundtrack, most 80’s Van Halen, Genesis in the 80’s, Bryan Adams, the list goes on and on… I would be that 75% of my CD collection, aside from the Iron Maiden, is from the 80’s.

@ ResidentEvil7: Whilst I know very many of all of those titles you listed above, speaking of Iron Maiden, Gerald, to me it was actually this one very video by ZZ TOP (below) that ultimately paved my path by and large off the whole pop music genre and straight into the hardrock and metal fields within the latter part of the 80s, leading progressively via King’s X, Iron Maiden, Manowar, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Destruction, Holy Moses, Kreator up to the likes of Panthera and Prong, the last four of which I am still a fan of to this day…

And here is the video I mentioned above, the very introducing drug to it all (especially when I first listened to the solo guitar part on this one in conjunction with the picture of that badass bigfoot car; that’s pretty much all it took for a big trigger):

I'd rather die a natual death with a clear MGTOW conscience somewhere off the grid than one within "modern" civilisation with a big stress mark on my forehead and a couple of dozen tubes plugged into my body. Back to the plantation..? Me..? Hey, literally: I won't ever fucking kid myself...YZERLMNTSIC

I still fire up the Manowar albums every once in a while… am soooo p~~~ed that one was stolen when my car was broken into… but apparently not p~~~ed enough to go re-buy it. I think a trip to the music store is in order.

    Cool thread.

Well the 80s have been my wild years, metal, hangin around with bands, doing interviews for a fanzine of my friends, making videos for bands.. riding motorcycles… this was my mainstream in the 80s and early 90s.., though I was not pure metal I had to keep my eyes open left and right, only metal would´ve been just to boring for me.

You might know this though, I still like it, though my musical ways have changed a lot since then, music still moves me one way or the other..

I was a metal head in the 80s so I would utterly refuse to listen to the pop stuff. Fast forward to the present, the songs including the ones I once hated have stood the test of time quite well.

Really great list! Thanks, I will spend the day listening. After the 80s, every damn song sounds the same no matter what the genre. It’s even worse today just like our culture.
