I’m an aspiring music producer, and even though I work in my studio most of the time, I sometimes do live concerts. I used to do live shows much more in my teens, but I’ve just gotten tired of it.
I was supposed to play a concert yesterday with a female producer behind it. I originally said yes, as many other cool artists were booked for the show, and I wanted to see them. However, this female producer was TERRIBLE. The reason was that this female had no technical insight (shocking, right?) into what equipment is actually required to carry out a concert. Me and my friend arrived at the venue in shock – no mixer, no PA-system, no sound engineer – NOTHING. I had clearly stated two months in advance that we do electronic music with a full rider consisting of all technical equipment needed. The female producer and all her female volunteers had simply ignored my e-mail, and relied on their OWN equipment, consisting of a crap vocal mic, a mono-speaker (!!!) and a broken keyboard. Most likely in an attempt to save costs. #femalelogic
I went straight to the female producer and said that we wouldn’t do the show and that I will never work with her again as she clearly does not respect me or my friend’s time.
She was shocked and started crying. She took no responsibility what-so-ever, and blamed everyone around her and said the sound engineer had “ditched her and not given her the equipment she needed”. (I later found out that no sound engineer had ever been hired for the job due to lack of funds. But she probably still thought the concert would be do-able if we all tried anyway “with passion” #femalelogicstrikesagain)Me and my buddy left. And another male artist did the same after seeing me telling her off and leaving the stage.
This is my first live show arranged by a female producer since going my own way. Most likely I would probably have put up with this s~~~ as a blue piller to “make things work”. But now, as a MGTOW, NO F~~~ING WAY!
I will never, ever, work with a female producer or “musician” again. I’ll stick with the talented musicians, producers and sound engineers. Who all happen to be male. I wonder why? 🙂Anything arranged by … = …

Well done. Excellent example.
The disaster is not because she’s “female”, it’s because she was unprofessional. Ask any performance artist, and a big part of being “professional” is covering up your mistakes. However, you’re not required to cover up OTHER people’s mistakes.
I have dealt with exactly the same type. Acts like a “producer” but has zero knowledge or ability to “produce” anything themselves. You don’t need a Stradivarius to play a violin solo, but you DO need a violin without broken strings.
she clearly does not respect me or my friend’s time.
That’s key.
She was shocked and started crying.
Of course. When all else fails, she turns on the waterworks.
she probably still thought the concert would be do-able if we all tried anyway “with passion”
“Do-able?” Swimming across the English channel is also do-able. You can try with passion, but it’s always the best swimmers who drown. NOT drowning and walking away from a stunt like that is also “do-able”.
If SHE “tried with passion”, she wouldn’t need to rely on YOU to cover up HER mistakes. That’s not your business. Good for you for putting your foot down on this and expecting her to UP HER GAME. She’s got some nerve expecting you to “try with passion” when she can’t be bothered with the most minimum of courtesies.
If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got. It’s not that she’s “female”, it’s that she was unprofessional. Exactly. The first step to doing any job is to do a basic budget to see if one can afford the job in the first place. Clearly this “producer” did not do so and she ran out of funds before the concert.
You don’t need a Stradivarius to play a violin solo, but you DO need a violin without broken strings.
This!
I’ve played many less-than-ideal gigs, dealing with all kinds of s~~~. But at least they provided the bare necessities + a good pay check. This experience was just unbelievably unprofessional, but somehow I’m not shocked at her behaviour at all due to all the red pill knowledge I’ve gained during the last couple of years. It also got me reflecting around music producers and sound engineers in general. I suddenly realised that over my 15+ years in the music scene, I have NEVER met a highly skilled female music producer or sound engineer. Ever.
But hey – these professions require very specialised technical knowledge in addition to great attention to detail, so I guess that rules out the females…Wow. It seems, anytime I work with a female like this (and there are a LOT), they are doing their best to embarrass you, and make you look incompetent and stupid.
I mean, I get stupidity, but what you described seemed like willful sabotage, like she was trying to f~~~ you up on purpose. Regardless, the result was the same.
are you a chia pet in man drag This experience was just unbelievably unprofessional, but somehow I’m not shocked at her behaviour at all due to all the red pill knowledge I’ve gained during the last couple of years.
I can appreciate the way you feel. I have dealt people all my life whom could not find their own ass with both of their hands.
And they always blame me for their problems. In their minds it is never there fault.
These fools are almost as annoying as those whom give up and walk away at the first sign of trouble on a project.

But somehow, the music industry is never short of any Divas.

Haha, so true. I used to do sessions as a live drummer, and if I could have gotten a dollar for every time I had to change the tempo of a song because it didn’t “feel right” for a diva vocalist (even though the tempo was just the same according to my metronome as 10 minutes earlier when it “felt fantastic”), I would’ve been a very wealthy man right now.
diva
I know those and have worked with them myself. “It doesn’t FEEL right”….. “mmmm better, but it still doesn’t FEEL right”…… and hours and hours and weeks of rehearsals, she’s twitchy, she breaks, she marks (half asses) it, complains about the tempo, she has a sore throat…. and then for some reason on this one day at precisely 8PM it’s just PERFECT!!.
Isn’t that an amazing coincidence?
Proves she was full of s~~~ for the last 6 weeks and just didn’t want to pull it together until the very last minute.
( *flips hair*. I’ll be in my trailer. )
If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.Hahaha. And if she’s off pitch the monitor-system is to blame!
@onmyway I’m actually trying to make my own personal studio as well. I like mostly hip-hop, and I have written some good material. Any tips on what equipment I should look to buy in the future?
Fuck bitches... literally and metaphorically
She started crying?
I’m guessing she’s heard this numerous times beforeI’m still shocked that so many women get jobs they do not qualify for.
Good for you for telling her you’ll never work with her again.

But, it is absolutely hilarious when the “diva” cannot pull it together at the last minute and she breakdown on stage. Usually, these breakdowns on stage are epic viewing for all the wrong reasons.

Really depends on what type of hip-hop you want to do, but a good DAW (I use Logic, but Ableton Live is also pretty cool!) and Native Instruments Maschine would keep you busy for quite some time!

Once at rehersal ” clip board chick” gave us permission to go to the bathroom. Hahah 15 peice band, players with credentails I cant mention here, ….I got my phone out, and spent 10 mins takeing her picture.

Just a bit of free advice. Make of it what you will.
Never tell them you won’t do the show (or accept the contract or take the bid or whatever).
Always tell them you CAN’T.
“Won’t” implies you have a choice in the matter. She’ll soon come to interpret that to make her failure your fault because you chose not to help her.
“Can’t” tells her you have no choice in the matter. Without the right equipment there’s simply no way to do the gig. And it was her responsibility to get the equipment there. So “can’t” drives home the fact that it’s entirely her fault and there’s nothing you can do to fix it. It makes it clear that she let you down, not the other way around.

Thanks bro. I will definitely look into it. Making a song is on my bucket list for me. I like to write raps, since I find it really cathartic. Allows me to get get things off my chest.
