    I’m about 3 episodes in.
So far a good watch for old dudes.
Very little SJW bulls~~~ (cannot escape it totally).

If you were a fan of 1984 movie The Karate Kid you will probably dig the reboot.

Is this a movie or a series? I am still confused. Zabka and Macchio in it?

Oooh, series, sweet, just found it.

I saw this back when it came out and was hoping for something like this series ever since.

I *think* it is a Youtube (the f~~~ing t~~~s) series.

    It has Macchio and Zabka.
They have flipped the script a bit so at the early stage both are douches and both are good guys.

Looking forward to see how it plays out.

I was going to wait until I finished the first season to make a thread.

But, I agree. This series is good. The writing is awesome.

This series is on par with Breaking Bad writing.

The interesting part of the series is that it flips the script in so many ways. The actors reprise their roles, and they good a good job acting.

It is a solid series. I can see why it was greenlit for another season.

And the red pills this series has. Each episode downs an entire bottle of red pills, mixed with 1980’s and modern pop-culture and music. The series comments on everything cool from the original Iron Eagle film and good 80’s rock music to Deadpool and the modern Spider-man film.

Johnny is about as un-PC as possible. And PC is shown how bad it really is.

Johnny’s low opinion of modern day cyberbullying by text is brilliant. He was a bully as a kid, but he points out that back then he bullied a person to their face.

The series is so un-PC, I believe it was allowed in Youtube by someone in that company whom is against the PC censorship happening in that company.

The series is about Johnny Lawrence (the rival in the original Karate Kid), with the secondary plot being Daniel LaRusso.

Mr. Miyagi has been dead for years.

This story expands on a fan theory that Daniel may have been a bit of a villain in the first movie.

Johnny’s life has gone to hell. Then, he ends up saving teenage boy, whom just moved into the neighborhood, from being beaten up from teenage bullies. And Johnny eventually decides to teach karate the boy, Miguel. Sound familiar.

Yes. Johnny is the Mr. Miyagi of the series. The irony is off the charts on this one. And this plot works so well.

At this point in Johnny’s life, there are a lot of parallels with Mr. Miyagi at the beginning of the Karate Kid I film. Both tend hit the sauce a bit to much. Both are loners.

If you read between the lines of Karate Kid I and II, before becoming a solider, Mr. Miyagi really f~~~ed up his life. Though, unlike Mr. Miyagi, Johnny still has some p~~~ and vinegar, he still seeks glory, while Mr. Miyagi’s war experiences likely purged him of seeking glory. Johnny is very rough around the edges and he lacks Mr. Miyagi’s inner peace. But, deep down Johnny is actually a go person. And Johnny wants to start a dojo to pull his life together.

Of course, Johnny is going to have all sorts of problems in keeping his Dojo open.

I believe this is the first American series where the series deals with a dojo getting started from the ground up. Not just teacher and single student.

Meanwhile, Daniel has done well for himself. He owns a chain of car dealerships and he has a loving family. But, he is also a victim of his own success. He is insecure, he has not practices Karate in years. His kids welcome all of him. His wife controls him, but in a good way. She does care for him, but it is troublesome how easily Daniel is lead around.

When Daniel learns that Johnny has reopened the Cobra Kai dojo he is haunted by how Johnny and his friends in High School

Meanwhile, Johnny is still haunted by his defeat by Daniel in the tournament.

This two men rivalry slowly ignite to the point the story becomes lot a modern day Shakespearean tragedy.

The ties to two men have to various people only compound the tragedy.

I am now sure where this story is going, but it is one hell of a ride getting there.

The new characters are very fleshed out.

For example, Miguel is a very well done character, with solid acting by the person whom plays him. Miguel is basically a young Daniel in many ways. And this series answers the question is if in Karate Kid I, what would have happened if Cobra Kai had sincerely trained Daniel instead of Mr. Miyagi.

Choreography in the fight scenes is solid. No really special effect, just solid choreography.

There are some badass fight scenes in this series.

Some of the training scenes are actually superior than the original Karate Kid film and are on par with the Rocky film training scenes.

The plot and writing are great.

This series feels like it could be the new Breaking Bad.

So far, I give this a solid 8 out of 10. Right now, the Cobra Kai series is far better than the Karate Kid films and is just a notch below Breaking Bad at its peak. Though, I feel this series will likely go high in quality as it continues.

The first two episodes are free on Youtube. Check them out, the episode are worth seeing. I plan on buying the DVD set when it comes out.

My son pointed it out to me this weekend, and I saw the first two episodes Saturday.

It was far better than I thought it would be. I thought maybe it was just nostalgia, but thinking about it critically, the acting was definitely on par for what was required, and the writing and plot was quite well-done.

The characters seem to have logically progressed from where they were 34 years ago. I’m curious to see where it goes.

All my life I've had doubts about who I am, where I belonged. Now I'm like the arrow that springs from the bow. No hesitation, no doubts. The path is clear. And what are you? Alive. Everything else is negotiable. Women have rights; men have responsibilities; MGTOW have freedom. Marriage is for chumps. Zabka is a savage 80s anti-hero basically red-pilling millennials. It’s fun.

I saw the first two episodes on YouTube over a week ago and I liked it. I can totally relate to Johnny, except I was never a bully. I wish I was more like Daniel: rich and successful and surrounded by good people.

For a long time, I wanted to see a Karate Kid reboot. I was happy to hear about the show when I heard it was coming out but thought that it would be better if it were a movie reboot. The writers proved me wrong! This series was the equivalent to THREE movies (also very well written) and there is another season for sure with a good chance of additional seasons. Amazing. I just hope they don’t ruin it by adding SJW stuff.
