every merchant mariner knows: “See grey, stay away!”

"Him, who delights in solitude, is either a wild beast or a GOD!" - Aristotle (Aristot. Pol. 1.1253a) 1 Hom. Il. 9.63; the passage goes on: ἐστὶν ἐκεῖνος ι ὃς πολέμου ἔραται.

    Enjoy it anytime, Blade 🙂
It could be an international anthem of MGTOW. Lyrics is suitable to any man, except manginas.

They were kind to the fleeing trawler, flairs over the bow and wheelhouse, then only shot out the engines and no rounds in the wheelhouse.

ME? Flairs? Engines full reverse to and abrupt STOP and my T shirt waving on a stick!

Kinda like a cop shooting someone in the leg instead of center of mass, like the maniac training the Americans go through, shoot the wheelhouse first, ask questions later…

    F~~~ING DISGRACEFUL!

No, my white T shirt, the Jolly Roger only comes out when the first flair is a live round through the WHEELHOUSE!

The US Coast Guard just waves at me when I’m out there.

They harassed us once at a put in for a survey they were taking of kayakers. We were the only two who passed the safety inspection for the entire day and were given stickers. I had 38 out of 40 things covered on their checklist. Had I my medical kit and a whistle I would have had 40/40. It was the first paddle of the season. The water was so rough the jet skis turned around when they hit open water. We keep on chugging in 20 knot sustained winds and 3 to 4 foot seas and did some surfing once we got to the beach.

The captain of that craft was a total moron. My Beagle likes the sound of Russian though.

    I have my suspicions.

Is it an empty disused hulk being used as target practice? Firstly, I cant believe a real trawler would not take evasive action, rather than just sitting there getting shot at.

Secondly, theres no sign of life on the trawler decks, nobody fighting the fire and no liferafts abandoning ship?

Third, if they were live firing at an unarmed civilian trawler it would have been a big incident in the media.

Interestingly this reminded me of reading that some trawlers were used as spy ships during the cold war. http://britishseafishing.co.uk/the-loss-of-fv-gaul/

Does mass media in your country observe every violation of the Russia’s territorial waters?
On the last minute there is a sailor goes to the stern of the trawler (6:21).

Agree. Is this a training exercise? Usually the Russians are not trigger-happy like the USCG or USN. And who would take a video of that and post it? Asking for time in the Gulag.
