City wide paintball war has cops on high alert in Detroit

You’d think the cops would support stuff like this. Isn’t there an actual city wide gungfight in Detroit most nights? Pretty cool if you ask me, I’m all for it.

The cops are concerned some of their officers might be too incompetent to handle this situation and might “feel threatened”. They are concerned because the police are dealing with “armed citizens” and they might not be able to tell a paintball gun from the real thing. You can’t make this s~~~ up.

Cops vs a group of young paintball “wizard” players in a real match-up at a paintball field .. fair and square, all participants agree .. may the best score win. I already know the result and the winner group name rhymes with gizzard.
Might call it public service outreach to youth via paintball .. at a paintball venue. Now what’s wrong with that? .. other than the embarrassment of losing a game of target practice to a group of kids who have grown up with video games and have much keener reflexes.

In 1985 a movie came out called Gotcha. In it the main character is in a paintball game where all players involved would try to assassinate one another while out and about in daily life. A few years after this movie many of my friends tried to emulate it, with full on squads of dudes going to war in spontaneous car to car combat, ambushes, stealth headshots from behind, you name it, it was fair game. We would have our cars filled with the heavy artillery and most of us carried the smaller Sheridan pump action pistols concealed at all times, everywhere, parties, whatever, you name it. Often you would come back to your car that you had left out of sight while you went into a store for a few minutes and it would look like it had chicken pox with several dozen shots all over it. S~~~, we would even roll up on the neighborhood slut who was out in front of the local liquor store and light her up too, nothing was off limits… I point blank executed her once via a shot to the titty.

Back then we had nearly zero concern of a cop shooting us, our only concern was not getting an eye shot out, most of us would walk around with sunglasses or protective glasses in our pockets just in case the paint started flying. The best was when you would roll up on a player who was walking or out front of a store or something with a car full of dudes… it would usually end with him in the fetal position and covered in paint…

That sounds like a lot of fun. There are so many abandoned neighborhoods in Detroit, it would be perfect for a Paintball War. Sadly, the Police will end up shooting some one over this. Having fun is a capital offense here.
