Christmas is nearly upon us and just wondered if anyone has any games they only play at Christmas?

I put this up in a thread in the main section and it reminded me of why I usually like to play Shenmue around the Holidays

pure nostalgia and it is actually a great game

    Christmas? Head Games!

Emotional rollercoaster made to satisfy the modern narcissistic woman’s lust for emotional ups and the inevitable downs.

Honestly? After stratifying for more than two decades having my own starvation and lust to become a natural man I found there’s two paths in life, the rollercoaster with its turns, bends, ups and downs lapping round and round, I chose the road the solidarity, the intellectual supper highway that cuts straight through that circus to nowhere but back to the start, ready for another round.

It’s not like I had any choice in the matter, I saw what women has transformed this society to, I saw the materialism and perishable happiness in it all, up,,,down,,,sideways,,, loop de loop and round and round, all the while no comfort, relaxation, or genuine peace, walking through a narsistic playground full of spoiled children that seemed to want more, one more gift, one more up, not the down! And finally the drinking and getting drunk like it was supposed to be what you do.

And then there’s New Years! Give homage to the clock! The imaginary device that counts the time we told it to count, when in fact time is streaming, it’s a constant, it doesn’t click, tick, or toc, it just is, it’s not in segments as we were brainwashed to believe.

I’ve had detailed photographic premonitions in my sleep that came true the very next day, exactly as I saw it, it’s always a night terror, and not a regular dream or nightmare before it happens. I’m glad it went away by around 18 when I trained myself to wake up when I feel it coming on. I don’t wanna know!

I abolished christmas 15 years ago because it’s the epitome of blue pill zombie servile wage slave consumer drone hell, so unfortunately I can’t help you, unless “lets-f~~~-christmas” could be considered a game.

I couldn’t agree more! I found a deeper meaning in Christmas and that’s good will to your fellow man, and gratitude towards your neighbor. Those are the real gifts! They don’t come in fancy shiny packages and they last all year!

And then there’s New Years! G

The most pointless and ridiculous celebration of all.

Don’t play any regularly on the holidays, really. I do know I don’t like a lot of snow levels. That Mario 64 one there, not very fun trying to navigate lol. Then there’s the one from Banjo-Kazooie with all the snowmen and the freezing water. The slippery physics in both and a lot of others makes things annoying, too; Ice Cavern in Ocarina of Time was not terrible about it but the Palace in A Link to the Past always got me sliding into enemies or down pits.

That said, there are some cool moments. Love Goron racing in Majora’s Mask. Also plays into cool ideas in Oracle of Seasons. Great mood setter in both Metal Gear Solid and MGS4. Good starting point in Nier. Nice to see it and other weather in EDF5 but it’s funny how the snow texture is also on the floor in covered rooms in storefronts lol.

Got a Switch the other day as a present to myself, so I guess anything I get for it is an xmas game. Dunno if there are any snow levels in Sonic Mania or tables in Pinball FX. Know Mario Odyssey does but it doesn’t look too bad. Might shell out for Breath of the Wild again, snow area there is pretty great despite not having much important stuff in it sadly.

getting a Switch for Xmas with Mario/Zelda and really looking forward to it

played through Zelda on my Wii U but thought I would pick it up again because it was so good. The only downside about Zelda was there was such a massive open world to explore but when you went off on a safari there wasn’t really anything to find apart from a shrine or two…still loved the game though. One of the best open world games I have played recently behind Witcher 3

I love most of the open world in BotW, could give or take some things like how bland Death Mt seems or that I’d like caves or caverns that aren’t trials. I do kinda wish there were less trials and more dungeons, but then also better dungeons in general, and bosses too…man. I guess I completed it only once so maybe I have yet to experience a lot of it yet. Either way, I do love all the variation in landscape and ways to explore more than anything like Skyrim. I also love Witcher 3 despite it being a little more limited in movement as it still feels like a more natural landscape.

One thing I think I will enjoy is using the joycons. Maybe in a minority but I loved Skyward Sword’s motion controls, and definitely feel gyro aiming was a much better idea than IR, so that at least sounds good. The wire between the Wii remote and nunchuck always bothered me so it’s a plus to have these not connected. Gamepad had gyro but I never got used to moving the whole thing to aim. BotW surely won’t be the same but if I can at least pretend to hold a bow it’ll be cool.

I agree with that – I would have preferred more traditional dungeons and more bosses. The shrines got a bit boring by the end. Also would prefer a better music score – BOTW’s soundtrack was disappointing

I hated Skyward Sword! Not a fan of motion controls personally
