Child Support, how many men get to pay for the same child – UK

OK this one came up in conversation with a mate and my google-fu cannot clear it up.

Situation (hypothetical here)

Guy marries single mum, single mum gets child support from the biological father, the bio dad also has access and sees kid frequently…everything is seemingly cool, the kid has 2 cool dads.

Roll on 10 years, step dad and mom get divorced, can she claim child support from the step Dad even though she is getting money from the bio dad?

There are plenty of article saying the step parents may have to pay but none mention any conditions regarding what is coming from the Bio parent.

i don’t think step dad has to pay child support unless he adopts. i have a friend who let his gf move in with her kids. because my friend is rich, the ex-husband of the gf tried to get out of spousal and child support using their current situation as grounds. He got out of spousal support or it was reduced. i don’t remember. but he couldn’t get out of child support. but let’s be real. My friend is providing housing, utilities, meals, presents for birthdays and christmas. the gf isn’t spending much of the support checks she gets.

No one is in trouble here gents, it was just a conversation with a mate.

Anyway, yes step parents can be liable for step kids here in the UK so be warned and warn your friends, what i was trying to establish is if a woman get multiple streams of child support for the same child off diffferent men, because that part is not clear.

I don’t know how the law in the UK works, BUT, in some European countries at least the woman can only get alimony if she’s single, if she moves in with another guy that’s enough for the court to take it away.

As for asking for child support from a step dad, good question, I would think they couldn’t do that, but then again what do I know?

I say call a lawyer, or better yet, don’t put yourself in that position, I know it was hypothetical but at the same time I’ve heard some MGTOWs saying single moms are a good pump and dump target because they’ll put off a lot of men with their kids, so they’ll be thirsty.

That’s my understanding too. Otherwise you could have scenarios where step-dad starts asking for visitation of kid that’s not his since he’s paying, and that’s just weird.

Of course this assumes biological dad is paying – if no-one is paying, I would imagine the court will grab the nearest man (step dad in this case) and SQUEEEEEEEEEEZE.

Well I can tell you that I have been reading more on this and as crazy as it sounds a step parent can actually end up paying support (no adoption required) while not having any legal rights to the child, in fact step parents don’t have any legal rights even if married and everything is cosy, so if you are a step parent signing waivers for those kids school trips you can’t, it’s fraud.

So in short, as a man with step kids they can f~~~ you up the arse for money for them too! (at least in the UK)
