I would guess she did that to make her feel desirable and make you feel that you have to work harder for her. So she wanted you to give her a souvenir and try harder in bed. She wants to see if you’ll chase after her. She isn’t concerned at all about how that might make you feel.

Luckily, I don’t recall a woman using that tactic on me. The one exception would be an ex GF who told me her ex-husband was too big for her, but she honestly wasn’t bragging, she was trying to tell me that the sex was lousy and painful and all. Still the conversation was awkward.

What I have seen a couple times is women letting me know how they used to be a cheerleader, or drill team, or they did some modeling work. Again, the purpose is to pump up their own ego and make you feel like you need to work harder.

Ok. Then do it.

Hi guys;

Sorry for the late response – 60 hr work week and another on the horizon. I am thankful that all proceeds are towards my life, my retirement, my comfort. Length of my marriage was less than your average car lease without prior living together and no children. This limited the damage immensely.

Regardless, I wanted to address some of the comments stated below – all your collective input has been fantastic.

Agreed. I got played. She used my loyalty and “nice guy” nature against me. I had no idea how bad I was being manipulated until the end – which caught me off guard. It was subtle over the half decade we were dating.

Pre – third wave feminism I would have been considered a fantastic husband. Lesson learned. New paradigm. I can now laugh when women complain “where have all the good men gone.”

I think you are correct. Looking back, with 20/20 vision, cracks started to show in the foundation. I just rationalized it away at the time- I will take full responsibility for that aspect. Still kicking myself.

On a side note, I sometimes doubt these “boutique” mental health conditions. In school, these “boutique” conditions – as in lots of vague symptoms that are most on the sub-acute spectrum, always struck me as a crutch.

I am not talking about the overt bipolar (manic-depressive) diagnosis. It feels like BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) is a convenient label that is attached to excuse s~~~ty, cruel and unreasonable behavior – just generally being a bad person. Labels and conditions/disorders, allow people to remove all responsibility and claim victim-hood. BPD could be ascribed to 95% of the women I know given the signs and symptoms.

I am learning not to rationalize the behavior – there is no logic. This is hard because I am a very, very logical and analytical personality. Destroy a relationship with a guy who treated her like gold, makes 6 figures, when she is in her mid-late 30s to ride the carousel? Defies any common sense. It’s not like she got a huge payout. Baffles logic to say the least.
