For the non-Aussies, ‘c~~~’ isn’t really an insult (although it can be an insult). And if someone calls you a ‘sick c~~~’ it’s actually a compliment. ‘C~~~s’ can be used in place of ‘blokes’ or ‘guys’ or it can actually be a term of endearment used amongst male friends.

In Australia we never call women ‘c~~~s’. It would sound quite strange if you did. Nothing to do with political correctness though. It’s just that ‘c~~~’ is a word used by men to describe other men.

It also depends on the socio-economic background of the men you’re talking to. You won’t hear ‘high class’ men using the word much. But if you make friends with blue collar workers then you better get used to being called ‘c~~~’. In fact, when they start calling you ‘c~~~’ you know they kinda like you (although it depends on the tone of voice they use!).

Anyways, in this clip you’ll see Mike Nolan use the word c~~~ in a number of contexts, except as an insult. For some reason I just love the Big Lez Show.
