It’s dove, quail, and antler-less whitetail deer season on my little hunting lease and I’m going with my youngest son this weekend. Being married actually makes this even more fun because I’m GETTING OUT OF THE F~~~ING HOUSE, too. I love the Fall/Winter seasons: football, hunting season(s), not as hot…

Hunting season ends here when the snowmobile trails open (mid Dec.). You must be southern, best time to hunt around here is after an early snow when you can track them. that reminds me of a moose that walked across my lawn and left prints 4 inches deep and two footb~~~~ wide, he was a full grown adult male judging by the prints, like a truck on four legs!

Southern? Yessir. The south part of the south even. We even got prickly pear cactus and rattlesnakes that will hurt you if you’re not careful where you step.

Our deer are little, especially in this season, compared with the moose you just described. We can only shoot does or bucks that only have nibs. I’m just grateful that my landowner allows me to do that. Originally it was supposed to be a dove only lease. I had all of the one I got last year made into breakfast sausage. It lasted a whole year but it was stretched with a fair percentage of pork.

Update: My son got 2 doe’s. All I got was a dove and a meadowlark that was posing as a dove. All in all, a fun trip though. Now it’s over and I’m looking forward to 9/22/2017, the opening day of dove season.
