To sum it up I’m self employed and I’m currently attending a conference with about seven hundred other people who all work in the same industry as I do.

After an extremely stressful day of leading breakout sessions and answering questions I was sitting at the end of the hotel bar enjoying a couple of beers. I’d been there about 45 minutes when a women came up and sat down next to me. After about five minutes, she let out this extremely fake and exaggerated sigh. When I continued to mind my own business she loudly asked why I wasn’t offering to buy her a drink. I simply stated that I wasn’t interested.

Apparently she didn’t get the point and continued on about how grateful I should be to have a chance with her. I told her once again in no uncertain terms that I would rather gargle boiling water than take her home. Well that really p~~~ed her off and she made a scene so I walked out under dozens of nasty glares from the other people in the bar.

I was minding my own business when my night was interrupted by some narcissistic bimbo and suddenly I’m the a-hole?

I drink alone, at least then I know the asshole I buy a drink for.

There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Now you have to pay ME for it

That’s when you get up and go to the other end of the bar. Don’t even give her a chance to sigh.

Best thing you can do is NOT drink at a bar if you want to drink alone. Get a 12 pack and go back to the hotel.

If you want to relax and be left alone, going to a bar that attracts lonely attention seekers is probably NOT a good choice.

Have not been in a bar is some time now. Women should start to get the message the days of men feeling obligated to buy a drink for random ho are over.

I can relate to the OP for wanting to drink at a bar AND at one and the same time not wanting to be harassed by some broad. The two concepts aren’t mutually exclusive.

First off, OP was traveling and in a hotel bar. The idea of sitting in his hotel room, alone, rather than at the hotel bar seems rather boring.

Also, just because a guy chooses to be at a bar to drink doesn’t mean he’s looking for pu$$y or looking to be literally harassed by a female into buying her a drink.

My favorite reason for going to bars to drink is to ball bust with other men.

This is a sport/past-time EXCLUSIVE to men. Women are incapable of this: witty, sarcastic banter.

The cliche of the “lonely, drunk looking for love” is just that – a cliche.

I live in a major city downtown and have access to over 200 bars, all within a 10 minute walk. There’s an Irish bar which is essentially a glorified Hooters – every worker is a female wearing tiny skirts and tops.

9 out of 10 times I choose another bar, which is all male bartenders; why? Because I have more fun in there in 10 minutes than I would the entire night w/the glorified hooters girls. The guys in there bust my b~~~~, and I bust there’s back. I’m always dying laughing. It’s so much fun.

Point is – just because a guy is going to a bar, doesn’t mean he’s looking for pu$$y or female interaction.

I was minding my own business when my night was interrupted by some narcissistic bimbo and suddenly I’m the a-hole?

This is the game they play. That’s all they do is play games. I usually handle it the way you said you did, which is be unapologetically blunt. But, that can get you in trouble. It’s ridiculous that it can get you in trouble, but such is the world we live in. Females are NEVER WRONG in the eyes of society.

When I encounter girls like this I either flip the script or I’m so sarcastic that they don’t know how to respond other than giggle.

Girls are so unimaginative and lazy, they will SCREECH across the bar and say something as simple, yet invasive as –

    “What do YOU DO?”

Can you imagine being that lazy and rude? It’s utterly insane.

I give them a BS answer – “I’m the long lost heir to the imperial throne of China” OR “I’m Shakira’s dance instructor”.

They just giggle, and acquiesce. Deep down, I’m thinking – how in the world are these girls so superficial and narcissistic to ask such questions without even exchanging names?

They think they’re entitled and have no remorse or sense of self reflection.

Nothing wrong with going to a bar to: have a drink, people watch, and shoot the $hit w/others. Jesus, if THAT is now deemed as something men can’t do, then we’re in serious trouble!

: “Why aren’t you offering to buy me a drink?”
: “Bartender? Could you please get this lady a glass of water. No ice.”

: “Why aren’t you offering to buy me a drink?”
: “Bartender? Could you please get this lady a glass of water. No ice.”

This is how entitled women have become today. As though their presence DEMANDS our payment.

    It’s insane.

I’m disappointed in some of the responses by some of the members here. As though the OP, or men in general, make a mistake by choosing to have a drink in a bar.

    That’s nonsense.

Men can drink wherever they want.

The notion that men must be relegated to their homes/basements to enjoy drinking is insane.

Bars are notoriously mens “joints”. It’s fun to ball bust and just enjoy one another’s company.

They are enjoying now what men have for centuries REJECTION! It will only get worse for them, and us having to deal with them. It’s amazing that they just can’t say hello I’m whoever and buy us a round. Even if no mutual interest is found later I’d buy her one just to reciprocate.

They can’t see past their noses where logic and manners are! Bitches will turn more feral soon.

    Best to see and avoid!

Make them think their breath stinks.

    Women love assholes.

No, you’re just a creep. Women don’t love creeps.

The only difference between an asshole and a creep is whether or not she wants to f~~~ you. It has nothing to do with you, yourself.
