Can women be "true" gamers?

Last night at work a woman told me she was a gamer and I asked if he she played “ps4, xbox one or what?” and she said PC. She then told me she mostly plays Diablo. I don’t consider someone who plays only one game and doesn’t have much knowledge of other games a “gamer” but that may be just me. I told my friend who is gamer about this and then I told him that, to me, no woman could be a true gamer anyway because gaming is a man’s world just like metal music. He then called me sexist.

I myself only stick to mostly old school games now. Not much of a gamer myself so doesn’t matter much to me but curious what others think. A lot of people would probably say video gaming is a child’s world so who in the hell cares.

I like this in the Return of Kings article though, 3 ways women have ruined video games:

You go to any Youtube channel about gaming and it will have a useless pretty chick talking about her experiences with Pokemon as a child. These women are not actual gamers but women riding a fad. They’re called “Gamer Gurls” for the reason to mock the gurl phrase that feminists like to use. These semi-attractive chicks have learned that they can get the princess treatment by pretending to be a video game enthusiast. Also another type of chick started to pop up. These women though don’t have the facade of being attractive. Instead they use videogames to up their social status. The land whales realized that if they could fake their enthusiasm for games, some video game beta would find them attractive as well. The betas fight over these chicks and since they’re all manginas of the highest degree. This is one of the reasons that betaness and even omeganess are the norms in video game culture.

I have been playing MMOs for a decade now. I have ran into women/girls who play, but guess what? They all suck. Some have cool personalities, but most behave just like women in the real world, they get men to do the heavy lifting and carry them to high ratings in arena rankings…

If you have to apply the label to yourself, then you probably don’t fit the label. In other words, no one who’s a gamer would really refer to himself that way, until he’s been called that by others repeatedly to the point where he can’t really claim otherwise.

Women don’t see it that way. They want to claim the label if they think it makes them look good and call you sexist if you don’t agree.

As far if women can be gamers…why do you care? Ignore the label and let people just be who they are… show you who they are. I would say most women just pretend at it, but there are room for exceptions.

From what I’ve seen, most video games have elements of achievement, of reaching a goal. Of building something that takes time and practice to get there. That’s a big part of what drives men and boys to video games.

Women don’t have much interest in achievement. They’d rather tool around with it. They don’t want to practice to get better.

Ok. Then do it.

Women are great chameleons. They do it for attention. It would be unfair to say that some aren’t true gamers, but most who claim are not. Years ago, I was in some WoW guilds raiding dungeons in 10 and 25 person groups (Burning Crusade and WotLK). Some of the best players in those guilds were women. So yes. As long as drama does not get involved. Once drama creeps up the guild quickly falls apart.

When I play world of tanks, I see several players that use names like , tankergurl23, etc. To show off they are girls.

It all comes back to evolution. Women gathered, low impact, routine, boring…like candy crush.

Men hunted, the thrill of the hunt, the accomplishment of the kill.

That’s why men and women play different games.

I am always ranting about this on here but f~~~ it, I will have another one…

I am sure there are one or two genuine ones out there but they are a very small minority. Even on TV shows the ones I have seen who say how they were playing games from the NES/SNES era say how they could only play as Chun Lee to play as a girl…complete crap as there were loads of RPGs with women and the Metroid which all the SJWs bang on about. Plus being a real gamer means it isn’t about politics so they give themselves away as fakes

I read a magazine called Retro Gamer magazine (covers all old games)and every month they have a fans page where gamers show off their collections. The new breed of gamer girlz have spotted this and to pretend they are true gamers and have been sending in their collections(all recently bought stuff) and one said how they got given Conkers Bad Fur Day for free from a guy on the internet (that dumb f~~~ simp gave away a £150 game for the hopes of pussy but obviously got none) so it shows how they are getting attention from the more pathetic crowd out there. Another one wrote in and said how she was “playing” Pokémon Go so is now into gaming and that Mario 64 is her favourite game – utter bulls~~~ because if you didn’t play M64 at the time then you should know that the gameplay is dated and has been surpassed by other games of that era (she only bought the mag because they had a Pokémon Blue/Red special with Pikachu on the front cover)

I wish they would just f~~~ off and find something else to destroy but as with all things, women just can’t help themselves. It is the simps fault though for not telling them to just f~~~ off from the beginning and now they are entrenched in the industry

also that stat about female games being over the 50% is utter crap as well because it includes mobile games. In reality the split is most likely around 90/10 at best

My friend s~~~ his plants at my muscle memory. I can beat Halo CE on legendary solo even the Library level. With co-op I could probably avoid dying and avoid getting a lot of marines friendlies like Sgt Johnson or Mendoza killed. I still remember most of the secrets of SMB like Warp whistles and zones if I play it.

Need to at least know many vidya characters even if you didnt own or werent skilled or played much. I know who Felicia and Morgan are even if I didnt play much of Darkstalkers, or Hitomi and Ayame even if I never really played DOA. They were industry iconic characters.

Arcade games count.
House of the Dead, Time Crisis, Mortal Kombat, Steet Fighter, Galaga, PacMan, Frogger, Capcom vs Marvel and etc are good substitutes. I will automatically consider someone a real gamer if they play me on an ARCADE MACHINE and whip my ass with combos and they or I haven’t played it it years. That requires a lot of f~~~in quarters.

Have standards and see if they meet them. If they fall short, they arent real gamers yet.

One last way to tell is they need s~~~ under their belt to qualify because they wont act like a real gamer. Admittingly, I have never personally met a real gamer girl just girls that know a game or two. You can usually identify a fellow gamer as you will aways have a unique culture among yourselves even if they are younger or older than you. It is the shared interests, conversation prefereces, memories, collection of language and etc.

Its like when two f~~~~~s chat up football and realize “holy s~~~, this dude knows what he’s talking about”. (And no fantasy football bulls~~~ doesnt count f~~~~~)

You see this hairy angry f~~~? Even if he didnt display his godmode library, he would basically s~~~ out the things you are thinking about if you were a real gamer.

you would beat me badly at fighting games – I have never been a fan after Street Fighter 2 which we all played back in school. Although I have recently bought Injustice 2 but that is just for the single player to play as all the DC characters (it has a proper story mode)

Beating any of the Halo games on Legendary is definitely an achievement as well. Stuff like the Mario Bros secret pipes or Mario 3’s warp whistles are stuff any proper gamer will remember or even the famous “get over here” sayings from Mortal Kombat.

There is a culture in gaming and it is very easy to spot fakes
