While visiting Iceland in 2015, I was struck and inspired by the story of Thingvellir… an ancient gathering site for the people of Iceland to meet, share cultural and political ideas, hammer out agreements, perform feats of manliness and all those sorts of fun things Scandinavians do when you get a bunch of them together.
“Þingvellir (Thingvellir) is a historic site and national park in Iceland, east of Reykjavík. It’s known for the Alþing (Althing), the site of Iceland’s parliament from the 10th to 18th centuries. On the site are the Þingvellir Church and the ruins of old stone shelters. The park sits in a rift valley caused by the separation of 2 tectonic plates, with rocky cliffs and fissures like the huge Almannagjá fault.”
Having subsequently attended a number of “festival” activities including Forgotten City (a regional Burning Man event) and Wasteland Weekend, it occurred to me that these drug fueled costume party meetups were missing out on a tremendous opportunity to do something more significant than just blast music and get s~~~ty in the desert.
I told myself that if I ever had the chance, I’d try to organize a “thing” of my own where serious minded individuals who are interested in the outdoors, camping, life on the road and experiencing (and creating) indigenous culture could get together to share their experiences and knowledge in fellowship and brotherhood.
And that’s what I intend to do.
This is not a MGTOW thing specifically as I have no desire to promote a socio-political agenda, but MGTOW seem like the ideal type of men to engage in such an event so I’m officially inviting all of you who might be interested to join in.
I’ll be pulling out of Las Vegas in mid-may and spending the next six months living on the road… first heading East toward Asheville and then doubling back to the north in order to view the August eclipse in Wyoming and then explore the wilds of Utah and the rest of the Western US until the next destination presents itself.
While I’m doing this, I’m going to be stopping in camp grounds, national parks and primitive sites where I’ll hand out invitations to any individuals I might meet who seem to represent the values I’m looking for… rugged individualism, commitment to zero footprint ideals, efficient use of technology and support of the community of the road.
My goal is to organize two “Camp Things” per year… un-official gatherings in primitive sites where the values I mentioned above will be tested and shared. There will be no registration, no fees, no infrastructure… just individuals and their camp rigs meeting up in the middle of nowhere just to be there and share their love of freedom, independence and life on the road.
The first meetup will be in mid-August for the Solar Eclipse. I’m working to identify a suitable site somewhere between Shoshone and Casper in the line of totality. I’ll post updates here and will be starting a YouTube channel to document my life on the road for anyone who might be interested.
I hope to see some of you out there.
Very cool.
When you are in Asheville, depending upon the time I may be up there visiting associates we should try and get together—perhaps take an excursion drive up to Craggy Gardens.
Definitely. I expect to arrive in the area around June 20th or so. It would be a pleasure.
You will make many friends on this journey . Going to be some cool threads i will be looking out for from you . Hey if you stay for a bit near water and ya into fishing dont forget to hang a carcass of a branch over thr water . Maggots drop of in to water and fish hang underneath . Men are meeting around the campfire and talking now
Will be interesting to see how feminists try to complain infiltrate the meetingsThanks for all the views so far, guys. My video “Homeless” got over 90 views and someone even disliked it, which is always fun.
I’ve posted two more videos since that one, pretty basic stuff in these two, but next week I’m kicking off my road trip with a four day camp out at Overland Expo in Flagstaff… hundreds of expedition campers, bikers, heavy backwoods and outback rigs, and my little Jeep and teardrop all hanging out together to tell stories, swap ideas and make fun of Hummers.

And give me some meaningful feedback. I can use all the feedback I can get.
Hi all,
So here’s my latest update.
I’ve spent the last two weeks in North Florida learning how to SCUBA dive and have achieved my Open Water, Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certifications.
I’ll be posting a video to my channel later this week about the experience, along with some underwater footage, but I’d just like to say here that I was honestly quite apprehensive about this going in.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to do it, but after my first lesson I was all “I got this” then had a great time with it. It just goes to show that we can pretty much do anything we want, if we put our minds to it.
If there are any other diver MGTOW out there, let me know and we’ll plan a trip or something. We don’t even have to talk about MGTOW, just hang out, log some bottom time and have a few beers after.
I’m up to 165 subscribers and over 11,000 views… which seems like a lot given that I’ve done almost no promotion. I really appreciate your views and subscriptions.
I’ll be posting more videos soon. In my most recent video I do a taste test of Soylent. Some kids at my campsite in Sedona gave me a bottle of the coffee flavored stuff and I decided to do an on camera taste test with what’s possibly the worst chroma key I’ve ever seen. Too bad I don’t have room for a mobile studio. Maybe in my next vehicle.
In any case, if you get a chance, check it out and thanks for your time.
sounds interesting. I would not mind experiencing this outing. Thanks
