Welcome to the Calligraphy thread. The goal of this thread is to raise awareness of the awesomeness that is penmanship and calligraphy (Yeah i’m not going to let this go for a long time).

My hope is that other members can share their own works in a means to inspire others through their work and revive this dying art.

Every now and then i’ll update this on a whenever-I-feel-like basis, but till then I will be doing other projects to instill the majesticness and refining art that is penmanship that has long since been kicked to the curve in this modern era we live in.

    Nicely written Frey.

Quick note. I would suggest clicking “How to post an image” on the tool bar to your right, and then copy/paste the template given instead of using the “img” button in the reply window. It’s a lot less of a headache.

Remember to replace .ext with .jpeg or whatever type of file it is.

You don’t want to see my attempt. Maybe I should try harder, but I differ from you on the importance. Perhaps penmens~~~ is like other paths that MGTOW follow. I would consider the gift of calligraphy to be artistic, and in this arena I go to music, where I excell. Rock on brother. Express yourself. The written words are spot on, reguardless of penmanship

skip the cavernous vag and go your own way

Penmanship and calligraphy I think a lot of times can be misinterpreted as something that is innately tied to talent. Which it can be. But when you get down to the nitty gritty of it, its more accurate to describe such as a discipline.

It’s kind of like being talented at doing push ups (if something like that even exists) vs training yourself daily to become disciplined in doing push ups. My point being. It’s not about how hard you try or how talented you think you need to be. It just comes down to sheer drive to do it over and over and over until you get results.

And by all means, if you have a craft that you excel in, then you chase the f~~~ out of it and make sure you’re the best at it. Follow your passions, and reap your rewards is what I’ll say to that.

I’m not sure about the razors, but from what I’ve looked into, it was a very tedius practice where you had to carry a bottle of ink and a feather quill wherever you went if you wanted to write something.

I would even go as far as to speculate this inconvenience may have lead to illiteracy for the people that did not invest in these instruments in the first place.

It wasn’t until fountain and ballpoint pens came around that writing became a more portable and convenient practice.

Edit: I would also assume those feather quills weren’t exactly reliable long term either…

I couldn’t care less about calligraphy, as long as the message is conveyed with accuracy I don’t care.

My hand writing is horrible but I try to write like a keyboard.

To those following me, be careful, I just farted. Men those beans are killers.

Fair enough. I do agree as well that as long as the message is conveyed and received, then the intent behind the work has been fulfilled.

On another note, I would also like to point out that there is also such a thing as “keyboard art”: https://www.google.com/search?q=ascii+art&rlz=1C9BKJA_enUS763US768&hl=en-US&prmd=ibvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwilwp38v6jXAhUS8mMKHdmVA68Q_AUIEigB&biw=1112&bih=719

At this time I would also like to point out a few things.

If you compare the first sample I posted to the one I just posted now, you will recognize the type of script being used is the same. But the line variation of these two scripts vary slightly if you look closely

The first sample is a shaded script. The second sample is a ribbon script.

Basically, all I would like you to know is that shaded writing is voluntary and requires technique from the writer to produce. This is evident by looking at the up and down strokes of the writing. The up strokes are intended to be thin and the down strokes are intended to be thick.

Now, ribbon script is automatic, and is often an involuntary product of the writing instrument itself, not the writer. This is evident by consistent ribbon like patterns regardless of the strokes being struck upwards or downwards.
