One day in the future, I would like to have a small cabin preferably by a body of water so i can fish. I don’t want a huge elaborate cabin. Maybe a one bedroom place, kinda like a bunker. It’ll be a weekend place where i can hunt and fish and relax whenever i want. No cell phones allowed, and no TV. Just me, my dog, my AR-15 and a freezer full of fresh fish and deer meat.

What else should i add to the cabin. I want it to be built tough, and unbreak-in-able. Maybe bring a few chicks there every now and then to avoid bringing them to my house, most chicks don’t want to be alone in the woods so i don’t have to worry about them trying to come back.

That’s where I want to end up as well, a cabin. I’m not sure which landscape I’ll be in — Arizona, New Mexico or the great north — but a cabin it will be.

Don’t bring chicks there. It is your MANZONE.

The rest is a great idea, brother! I can almost see it when I close my eyes: clear water, trees, a bird calling from somewhere, your dog wagging his tail and happily following you around wherever you go. During and/or after fishing you have a couple of cold ones, sit back… and relax.

    Dammit now I’m envious.

Yea i agree, it’ll be my own little getaway place. A place to unwind from working all week.

There are actual cabin guilds out there where men get together and show you how to build a proper cabin. Look in your area for one and see what they can offer you if it is right for you join by all means. I never looked into it but I remember there was a guild in my area a few years ago.

I would suggest trying for as much self sufficiency as you could. IE off the grid, with solar panels and inverter system with generator, water storage, food storage for you and the dog, medicine, minimal connection to public utilities, ham radio, some cash and precious metals. Always have a reserve of all critical stuff for a few months.

Without sounding too survivalist, not that is a bad thing but there may be some stigma interpreted by some. And I agree with Nerevar, if you bring bitches it will spoil the place and the sanctity. Just get a hotel room for that s~~~.

    Two words: Tree Fort

I thought what I'd do was I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes...or should I?
