California’s Brown Raises Prospect of Pension Cuts in Downturn

California Governor Jerry Brown said legal rulings may clear the way for making cuts to public pension benefits, which would go against long-standing assumptions and potentially provide financial relief to the state and its local governments.

Glad I lost all faith and trust in government decades ago! I haven’t been disappointed by any unkept promises bought and paid for through the paradigm of taxes! I think all public sector benefits need SEVERE CUTS just like the rest of us suffering endless decline!

Thank the Cultural Marxists for the mess the western nations are in!

    Wave bye-bye!

As usual…The old hard earners who worked for their pension, and promised that pension have to take the brunt after they got used by the system. Its why I dont generally trust the government to take care of me.

I have to make the most while I am still young enough so I can live comfortably in old age…Relying on pension…pfff…With inflation and false promises that gets reneged later on, its always a raw deal…I feel sorry for the pensioners who worked hard for their pension and will get a cut in their pension…

Then you have my generation paying high income tax to fund today’s pensioners, knowing we will have to live off our superannuation (401K) when/if we get to retire.

The days of retiring on defined benefit for 30 years of golf will be long gone in 40 years. Such is life. Beats being born a boy today into this f~~~ed-up, gynocentric, #metoo, divorce-rape society. #ManOut

The collapse is already in progress. Look at the cities in California that have had to declare bankruptcy. Cops and firemen and other gov’t employees who retired at 50 with awesome pension packages…nullified by the courts! They got pennies on the dollar and are back to work in a lot of cases. The newer generations are not going to stand by and watch .70 cents on the dollar, for every dollar they make, be taken away to pay for some retiree tooling around AmeriKa in a motor home. And I don’t blame them. I have about 15 years before I retire and I’ll be surprised if there is anything to retire on. Of course, the way I drink, I will be surprised if I make it to retirement! Which is what the gov’t is counting on, I’m sure.

Problem is the “old hard earners who worked for their pension” didn’t fund them when they were working…they promised themselves generous retirement benefits the next generation would pay for.

Then you have my generation paying high income tax to fund today’s pensioners, knowing we will have to live off our superannuation (401K) when/if we get to retire.

And the next generation is looking at it like this saying go screw yourselves…people who didn’t want to fund their own retirements during their working years by actually funding a pension fund fully are now telling us we have to fund our retirement and theirs. I wasn’t even alive when a lot of current retirees were working…why the hell am I responsible for their pension? Its bad enough I’m forced into social security…I don’t want to fund their pensions as well.
