Agreed. It’s written too much like fantasy to be real. Starts off sounding rather normal and then steadily escalates to completely ridiculous as if it’s scripted out. Covers the general stereotypes too well.

And the going backpacking thing is way too convenient, but makes no sense. You don’t state you love your kid, break up with father, and then leave town without the kid. Mother’s know very well that it’s important to establish how great of a mother you are when the judge is deciding how CS arrangements. However, it’s a great way to disappear and prevent follow up inquisitions about the story.

It might be, but with what is out there today it definitely is a real plausible possibility. I don’t doubt it. Rmember there are spoiled kids who throw fits because the car they are given isn’t the “right” color.
