These accusations work because companies dont care to spend to much time dealing with complains. Why should they? They just take the money from the driver, they dont lose anything.

So, proof is not necessary because there is no process.

The rider, if he wants to defend himself, must create more trouble to the company than the complaint. But in that case they see the driver as a problem, not the complaint.

Besides, for every ride the driver needs to save video evidence and bother to take time defending himself. For $25?

First of all, in brazil a body cam or a camera is so expensive that most drivers can’t afford. (R$ 2.500,00+/ 2.6x the minimum wage)

Then, brazilians have “image rights”, record them can be an offense or harassment

Finally, uber don’t care even if the rider have a record.

Somewhat off-topic, but do people actually make any money driving for Uber? Seems like it might offset some of the expenses of owning a car, but I find it hard to believe that people make profit driving part-time (especially if you obtain the “for business use” insurance that would be required, at least in some states). I’d looked a the requirements to drive for one of those services years ago (don’t recall if it was Uber or another), but my vehicles were too old! (Not sure what difference THAT makes if they’re maintained: a tow truck driver told me that he tows more new cars than old, per capita).
