    Hi.

I started to take time to read and now am making a list of books I plan on reading. I have two categories in the list – one is technical (my specialization, basically), another one – everything else (management, investment, a little bit of psychology, etc.).

I would really like to hear your suggestions and opinions on the list. You can also add the books on different subjects – doesn’t really matter which ones, and I would gladly research on them at least.

Here’s what I have so far:

    Machiavelly – the Prince
    33 stratefies of war
    48 laws of power
    The power of influence
    Sun Tzu
    Books from illimitableman
    The intelligent investor.

I am really struggling with finding good books on investment – I am really interested in this subject. I have found many suggestions, but I don’t know what to choose and whether I should believe the users’ reviews… I would also like to read some of the classics like Machiavelly (I’m really impressed by what he wrote). And, basically, anything to broaden my horizons.

I really want to hear your opinions and favorites.

    Thanks.

Great reading list @gr. Also suggest Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill and The Count of Monte Cristo (Unabridged edition).

The Rich Dad, Poor Dad series by Robert T. Kiyosaki. Many men and women are financially independent because of income real estate.

Edit: My take on 48 Laws of Power is that it is a modern day rewrite of Machiavelli. Either is a good choice, but Old Nick’s books are aimed at readers from a different time and culture, while 48 Laws is for 21st century folks like us.

Never seen it spelled as Machiavelly before. It’s the only book I recognize and it’s quite nice. Can be considered satire or something to be taken seriously. The former is the well-accepted idea.

Empire of Illusion – Chris Hedges

History of the United States – Howard Zinn

    Manufacturing Consent – Noam Chomsky

    Endgame – Derrick Jensen

I dig current affairs, socioeconomics, and real (non-Anglo) history..

I’d recommend Harry Browne’s Fail-Safe Investing. Instead of specifics it gives an overview of why you invest, what to expect and what your mindset should always be. This is easily the most useful book on investing I have and I reread it every year or two and always get something new out of it.

Neither have I. Spelling here seems to be “fluid”. Many it seems cannot even be bothered to try.

It’s the only book I recognize and it’s quite nice. Can be considered satire or something to be taken seriously. The former is the well-accepted idea.

It’s a satire all right. Only those wholly ignorant of Maciavelli’s life and career take The Prince seriously. After all, the same man wrote Discourses on Livy which forms the basis of Western constitutional thought.

    Anyway, here’s my list:

    Plutarch’s Lives
    Marcus Aurelius Mediatations
Thucydides History of the Peloponnesian War
    Montaigne Essays
    Mill On Liberty
    Dewey Experience and Education

Basically you can pick anything out of the Western Canon and derive great benefit. Conversely, stay away from ideology besotted assclowns like Zinn and Chomsky.

Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.

    Little bit of psychology?

    Social Animal by Elliot Arronson

In demand of a book last I checked

Don't let defeat, defeat you; Let defeat be your greatest teacher.

Yes, I am interested in psychology and how human mind works.
You see, being a logical/strightforward guy, I always had troubles playing social games, in essence, I never was a Machiavellian. And I couldn’t see so many things.

F.e. I am in the process of reading “33 strategies of war” and about Machiavellinism, and it’s so mind-blowing for me.

    The Holy Bible – Men
The Big Book – William Griffith Wilson.
The Red Book – Carl Jung, “The historian who did the translation over the past few years has said the book’s basic message is “Value your inner life.”
Psychological Monographs – Julian B. Rotter., Locus Of Control – very helpful for MGTOW.

Rennie, I would like to get into How To Vanish In America. Seems like the ultimate f~~~ you to Washington would be to just leave the country and spend your money elsewhere while watching the whole mess implode on its self.

You think Chernobyl was bad? Wait until the ink drys on that marriage contract you just signed...we know, you just wanted sex and fun...you could have gotten that for $100.00 a couple times a month instead of DESTROYING your life!!!
