We have all heard the whole body shaming/fat shaming is racist/misogynist blah blah blah. NM doctor reports and studies. They DON’T KNOW.

But this article……it is not so much the Mum’s response that irritates me..because she is fat. Sorry, but she is. But the way the article is written up calling her a “BAD ASS” and how empowered she is for saying it. And then we get a round of “You go girl!” Etc ETC.

I don’t know about sizes, but I do know that body fat percentage wise, women are best around 20-22%, even up to 24%.

Men are generally speaking best around the 12-16% range.

Too low bodyfat looks bad and is unhealthy. Too high is also unhealthy. But there is a range, and nobody can stay at the ideal low one all the time.

I’m a little over weight and I could tell the very attractive young lady I was having my first dinner with was not attracted. So I, tongue in cheek, told her about the fat acceptance movement and how she should embrace fat people because that’s the brave thing to do in our thin privileged society.

You can’t trust clothing sizes anymore, Eric. While “vanity sizing” had been occurring since at least the 60s, it’s exploded in the last two decades as the majority of women in the Western world have become clinically obese or worse. Rather than hurting the “fees-fees” of their fat customers by properly labeling fat clothes with fat sizes, apparel manufacturers changed the meanings of each size instead.

When you’re selling to deluded fat c~~~s it’s best not to upset their fantasy world so they’ll keep buying.

FatPeopleHate at Voat is one of my abiding sins and the members there routinely post examples of vanity sizing. A dress which was size 8 in 1967, for example, is a size 0 now. Petite women there post about having to buy clothes in the teen or even child sections because the supposed petite sizes in the adult section are actually manatee-sized despite the numbers on the labels.

There are class issues at work too. The more expensive the clothes the more likely the marked size is accurate and hasn’t been changed for reasons of female vanity. Walmart is going to lie to that mayo dumpster by labeling the parachute it bought size 2 while Hermes won’t even make anything even remotely close to it’s size.
