Just a reminder that today, Sunday September 17th, is the ‘Battle of Britain’ Day in some parts of the free world (Britain and Canada just to name a couple of countries). It is the day when each year we hold ceremonies and parades to remember and honour those who fought and died to prevent the Nazi Germany invasion of Britain. That battle marked the first major and significant defeat of Hitler’s forces during WWII.
Lest we forget…

Anonymous7Salute to Military past, present and future of my cousins across the pond.
I cannot stress it enough, you may dislike your country (you know who you are) but don’t diss the Men and Women that serve (yes even the laaaaydeeeees).
🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 Cheers!

Check! We lay it on the line so that you don’t have to.
Enjoy your freedom and remember the military members who obtained it for you.

Another consideration is that we’ll soon see the end of the ‘living memory’ of the Battle of Britain and even WWII. It’s been a few years ago now that the last serviceman of WWI had died. He was an American (IIRC) who was underage when he joined the U.S. Army just two weeks before the war ended…

Anonymous7Really?
BoB day and this is it?Really?
BoB day and this is it?I imagine the ceremonies will continue to carry on for many more years to come but there aren’t that many years left for those who were alive and/or fought during that time.
Once they’re all gone, people start forgetting what the battle and the war was all about. Many have already forgotten…

I respectully disagree.
If I am wrong forgive me please.
This resembles Veterans day, no?
The greatest generation, has a day.I respectully disagree.
Well I of course hope that I’m wrong. But I’ve talked to fellow Canadians (who were my own age) that weren’t even aware that Canada fought in WWII.
About ten years ago, the Canadian airforce began to realize that many new recruits were oblivious when it came to Canada’s military history. They printed a booklet with a DVD in order to explain it to them.
It not really the fault of any private individual either. As a kid, I was never taught about Canada’s military history in school.
You have to remember that Canada has been subject to many years of federal Liberal rule over the past few decades. The Liberal government has always had a disdain for the Canadian military. The current PM Turdeau, feels that the country pays too much attention to Canadian ex-servicemen and their role in Canadian history…
