There is a Blondie And Dagwood (based on the comic strip) tv special that was aired in the 80’s. My parents taped it for me. I used to love watching it as a young kid. I recently watched it again as an adult. I was shocked and nauseated. I do not think I’ve ever witnessed such an extreme “man=stupid, woman=smart” message in all my life. I mean yeah, that is practically ever sitcom. But not this this extreme. I don’t know what my point is. Just needed to vent. Thanks for listening. I found a link to the special. Watch if you dare.

The “man=stupid & woman=smart” trope has always been with us. Apart from Blondie, there was Ma & Pa Kettle, Fibber McGee & Molly, Maggie & Jiggs, and too many others to list.

It’s just that now the trope is seemingly the only one in use.
