Get ready to laugh until it hurts – this is a positive article about witches. Self-delusion, thy name is womyn.

Rapper Azealia Banks brought witchcraft back into the mainstream by tweeting ‘I’m really a witch’. But women in the US have been harnessing its power for decades as a ‘spiritual but not religious’ way to express feminist ambitions.

It’s tempting to write all this off as fluffy woo-woo stuff (a trivialization of which Starhawk is well aware: “We’re no more nutty than most religions,” she says, “and probably a lot less nutty than some”). But the politics are there, and they hold up; mixed in with the spells and rituals of The Spiral Dance, you will find meditations on sexual violence, ecology and anarchist group building, and thoughts on how men can overcome patriarchal conditioning in order to participate effectively in leftwing activism.

The witch, that strange woman at the edge of town – crazy, scary, ugly, disliked, but maybe, just maybe, smarter than anyone else in town – well, that’s all of us.

Yes, just one more f~~~ing example of that deluded magical thinking that so many wimmenz buy in to.  “I’m a witch!”  How f~~~ing special for you cupcake.  Now how about you mount that broom and clean the goddamn house then!?!  While you’re at it how about you cast a sandwich spell?  Ham on rye if it’s not too much trouble…

Don’t ask me how I know about this subject…needless to say wimmenz that buy in to this bulls~~~ are deluded to the highest magnitude.  “The Universe” will magically pay all your bills and give you a life on Easy Street “if you just believe!”  Uh huh…mkay…that’s nice dear.  But you might want to actually get a job with regular hours just in case “The Universe” is late with your rent this month sweet cheeks.

You simply wouldn’t believe how widespread this mental disorder is among wimmenz.

The playing with witchcraft will only make them more insane and more miserable because they’ll open the gates of hell on themselves and be tormented by demons.

I actually see this as a good sign. If they all started becoming witches, just think of the innocent lives that will be spared if womyn started riding broomsticks instead of cars.

I used to tease my former dentist about this.  Whenever she came in, I told her that I figured she had arrived because I noticed a broom parked outside.  I then “congratulated” her on finally soloing on the twin-engine jobs but that she should take it easy when landing as she left skid marks on the sidewalk.

She wasn’t amused, for some strange reason…..

Hey Soul Man, both my mother and my ex were into all this s~~~, as hard as fought to convince them both that it was just wishful thinking they remained adamant. No amount of evidence to the contrary will ever convince a woman that it’s bulls~~~.

It seems to me to be intrinsic in women’s thinking, if I can’t prove my theory…it MUST BE TRUE!

    F~~~ing idiots!

Most of this so called witchcraft is just new age bulls~~~ thought up by a bunch of gurus with drug-addled brains. None of these idiots have the first clue about the occult and the mystery religions of ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia. Wiccans are just a bunch of flaky dykes that needed some pseudo-spiritual nonsense to justify their muff diving.

F~~~ counter-culture bulls~~~ and all the hippie assholes that perpetuate it.

The pervasiveness of illogical, magical and mystical thinking is one of the main reasons this world in general is f~~~ed up. Women are still being killed, actually being burned alive, in certain parts of the world for being witches. So are albinos in some places in Africa. Ignorance is the rule, which is why people are so easily manipulated.

    @QRV,
And then you let her open your mouth and insert a fistful of sharp implements?!

She figured she could get her revenge financially by looking for problems with my teeth that didn’t really exist.  Three years ago, I found out why.  She sold her practice and got out of the business.  She probably through she could make a big cash grab before she packed it in.

There is an idea that all witchcraft is, is the manipulation of fundamental and very base desires in the human psyche.  It is less about “magic” and more about accessing the darkest regions of the mind by acknowledging certain primal forces (such as the drive for power).  To the average person this might appear “magical” when in reality it is subtle manipulation that gives the illusion that the “witch” is in control.  To believe in an illusion is to lose control.

The truth is, most people do not know themselves (best/worst attributes) and often succumb to manipulations because of it.

    Gone Galt,
I tried to read that article but just couldn’t make it through. ‘Guess maybe I’ve lived too long and studied too much science that maybe my mind doesn’t not open that far anymore. When I was younger, I was more forgiving of ignorance than I am now.

I got through several paragraphs though, and based on that, would agree with you that this is self delusion by someone with a keyboard. It’s one thing to believe in witchcraft and sorcery if you’re a drunk/high, isolated, illiterate villager in some third world jungle somewhere struggling to understand some random event in nature that had bad consequences for you and your family. That villager believes that because his parents and grandparents believed that and had no other explanation to give him when he asked them questions about his environment as a child. That’s a pretty terrible situation, but at lest the villager has some excuse for not knowing any better. The villager doesn’t even know the earth is round, or that humans have walked on the moon. He’s ignorant by default, not by choice. He didn’t have other options to choose.

But to be rattling off those ideas about witchcraft on the internet from a first world country where a person has easy access to education in science for the provable explanations to why things occur… that’s just willful ignorance of a truth already made easily available. The authors of these articles are just peddling ignorance by choice to people who find it uncomfortable that there is some randomness in the world that can’t be controlled, and are willing to grasp at anything that promises to give them some control or understanding without requiring disciplined learning. By conveying these ideas in writing, the authors have shown they are literate. And by doing it on the internet, they’ve shown they have access to the ultimate library. They have no excuse.

Look, it's not my fault that tornado dropped a house on your sister. Now get back on your broom and get your ass out of here... and take your monkeys with you

They used to burn females for being “witches” just to get rid of the angry, old, ugly and arrogant ones. It had nothing to do with witchcraft per se… just a useful tool for keeping females from getting too bitchy and irritating. Oh, and sometimes they’d burn the sluts too, to keep them from telling.

These days, “witchcraft” is all just “grrrrl power” and wishful thinking. Females who indulge in “sexual magick” and follow the advice of books like _The Secret_ are really just looking for ways to avoid having to go to work to support themselves and take responsibility for their own socio-economic outcomes.

It used to be that females could do that by being nice to a man, becoming a housewife and then quietly manipulating him from the kitchen and bedroom but that was too much work. It’s a lot less trouble to either listen to Oprah and imagine that they’re getting everything they want or to use open aggression and and the force of law to try to strong arm men into giving them what they want.

Females can afford to have their heads in the clouds because men still give them free s~~~ in droves. Starve them out and they’ll come back to the ground.

On the other hand, I’m old enough to remember when the old sitcom Bewitched (starring Elizabeth Montgomery) was on the air…..

Funny you say that because I was about to post about here. Only a couple of weeks back I borrowed my friend’s entire Bewitched DVD collection before I ordered one myself. Wanted to see if the normal DVD quality was good enough or should I opt for the Blu ray one. It was my favourite sitcom when I was a kid and just wanted to relive those childhood days. But I did not realise that the effects of the Red pill has improved my sense of rationality and honed my bulls~~~ detector to the sharpest levels.

I couldn’t believe those same episodes that I had once found so entertaining back in the days of my childhood would be so painful to watch again as an adult. The blatant misandry in it was off the charts.

The entire series was based on the schadenfreude of the torment inflicted on husband Darrin Stevens whose biggest mistake was to fall in love and marry the good witch Samantha by each and every relative of her because it was an inter-species marriage between a witch and a mortal which they never were able quite accept. An in some of the episodes they dared bitch about the prejudice and  the injustices dealt to witches in reference to the Salem witch trials of colonial Massachusetts. How is that even relevant to modern day America is beyond me. The quintessential vamp of the show was Samantha’s mother Endora who kept on interfering with her daughter’s marital life with the sole intention of breaking up their marriage but since it’s a sitcom it’s all fun right? She turned Darrin into a dog, a goat, a horse, turned him into a 90 year old man, enlarged his ears, his nose, turned him into a werewolf and the list goes on and on. But hey, its happening to a man right and not a woman so its all fun.

I am at the final 7th season DVD now, I promised myself that I’ll watch it all so I am. After I’m done I’ll return it to my friend and try to forget it as a mishap that happened to me when I was a kid.

Yeah, some shows didn’t age well.

If I remember correctly, wasn’t there a sappy movie on a similar theme with Sandra Bullock and, I think, Nicole Kidman?

It would appear those spinsters, bag ladies, and old maids have very active imaginations.  The only spells they cast are on male genitalia, causing more shrinkage than a cold shower.
