Billy Graham, renowned evangelist, dead at 99

The Rev. Billy Graham, whose sermons were broadcast in churches around the country, has died, a spokesman confirmed to CBS News. He was 99.

In the summer of 2005, Graham preached at what he called his “Final Crusade.”

Graham said: “Deep inside we need something else. And that something else can be brought about by Jesus.”

“When I touch the podium, I can feel a new strength and a new power come and it’s a thrilling thing for me to preach the gospel at this age,” Graham said.

The three-day event in New York City was the culmination of a lifetime of evangelism — seven decades of spreading the gospel to more than 200 million people in 185 countries around the world.

Just figured I’d share thing for those who may not have heard the news. I don’t really have any thoughts on it other than I’m surprised because I didn’t think it’d take this long (he’s been on tv forever, well before I was a kid), but not surprised given his age.

I’m not a Baptist and his words never moved me as they did some. I’m sure he had his failing as a mortal man, but don’t we all.

    He’s G*d’s hands now.

    Rev Graham, RIP.

He did do that, and had a charismatic way about him hence his longevity and popularity, but when he doesn’t practice what he preaches then I can’t exactly say that he was a “Great Man”, but hey that’s just me, and there are plenty that will think otherwise, and that’s up to them.

I’m not against ANYONE becoming Wealthy, but when they get up on the pulpit and tell you how to live your life, and it happens to be a different song and dance then they’re LIVING then personally I don’t have any use for them or what they SAY.

While I did not care for his sermons, Billy Graham was surprisingly moderate on a number of social issues. He took a stance of hate the sin not the sinner.

Billy Graham Net Worth – the items not accounted for is the videotape library of his sermons in Charlotte N.C. and all the property owned in Swannanoa and Black Mountain N.C.

Those as well as many political leaders. Not the best man for the job at every moment, but a better man than many all the time.

    He will be missed

I have made clear who my God is and keeping with
the teachings of my father who is in heaven who
always said: “Keep in simple son” and “worship is
showing appreciation by giving thanks for what
    your specific lord gave you.”

I could never thank my earthly father enough
for by being my creator. He gave the most precious
gift we all have. Our time of life on this earth.

I give all that I have back as my gift of thanks
    to him that created me..

When the day of my physical death comes and this mortal
manly meat-sack goes lifeless, I would pray that the world not judge me by how wealthy or poor I became.
But by how adamant and strongly I asserted that I
own nothing at all and everything I have in my possession was gathered in his name.

When I say God owns me now.
That is meant as a literal
    and truthful statement.

My fathers name will be blasphemed
I am sure of this and it makes me sad,
knowing what kind of man he was.

I cannot worry about that for
he will deal with that in person.
He will do so from a different level of
    understanding and authority.

On billy graham we should stop judging
by his monetary wealth for he took none
of it with him and according to his life’s
testimony he stated many times everything
    belongs to God..
He was just a steward of his chosen gods
property, and it is up to his god to judge him now..

Every man who claims the Christian faith
is claiming to have an intimate spiritual
relationship with the lord of host Jesus.
That marriage to his truth is that man’s
connection to the spirit of his father
    in heaven.

The right to this belief comes with a
vow of poverty, and a vow of faith in
the spirit of your father to rescue
you and provide what you need if you
will show faith by giving everything
    including yourself to him.

    showing faith is saying God
you are all I need and want
I trust your spirit to bring
    me to the Jurisdictional refuge
    where you are living now.

    Faith=trust
    Worship=thanks

I Thank Jesus for hosting the spirit of my father.
He is the most trustworthy man I have ever known.
I refuse to give up my belief that his spirit owns my
future time of life and the product thereof.

I believe in person he is reborn and lives again
through the flesh of his first born and only
    custodial son.

That I am, the first born and only begotten
son, of my chosen God, is a truth self evident.
Like any other slave on this earth my journey
through this natural life was predestined.
At a very early age My father showed me the way in which i should go and as an old man I do not have any authority to depart from the way he taught me.

Jesus is the way, The truth and leads to a crown
of “LIFE” not for me for I want nothing for myself.

A crown of life for my father I pray for in Jesus
    holy name. A&men

I love and respect to everyone without prejudice.

I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me. Kind mockery at the well intentioned, but unfettered cruelty towards those would be prison guards of my creative possibilities. This so as to learn as much from misunderstanding as from understanding. Taking pleasure in worthy opponents and making language fluid and flowing like a river yet pointed and precise as a dagger. Contradicts the socialistic purpose of language and makes for a wonderful linguistic dance, A verbal martial art with constant parries that hone the weapon that is the two edged sword of my mouth.

So if the guy ended up a multi millionaire that means he is heading to hell for sure by your interpretation. By your interpretation if a person makes a million, Billy G or anyone else then they can just forget any ideas about making it through the pearly gates. Incredible, you cherry pick one short passage out of the Bible and trumpet it here?

WOW, what a steaming pile of dung you shoveled up there! To each their own opinion, I share no part of your logic, or your opinion.

It would be interesting to see who you think might be worthy to enter the Kingdom of God, if not this guy then who passes your criteria? Just a guess but are you Atheist?

I don’t mean some vague crap like the other stuff you have posted, but something showing a clear correlation between the crap you are shoveling and a way in which the man acted in word or deed.

Many years ago a Christian friend of mine told me that Billy Graham never hired any women for any of his businesses like secretaries, lawyers, PR reps, etc.

This was during those big church sex scandals of the 80s.

He said that Graham never wanted women in his inner circle because of the problems they can potentionaly cause.

    Any truth to this?

Essentially yes it is true. It was well known and well publicized that Graham did not travel with women, or have any kind of lunches or business meetings between just himself and a woman. I don’t know about the inner circle thing though.

So if the guy ended up a multi millionaire that means he is heading to hell for sure by your interpretation.

Sorry, NOT my “interpretation”, but the words of some guy named Jesus that supposedly Billy Graham BELIEVED in and REPRESENTED.

By your interpretation if a person makes a million, Billy G or anyone else then they can just forget any ideas about making it through the pearly gates.

Again, NOT my “interpretation”, but the words of Jesus. I have NOTHING to do with it.

Incredible, you cherry pick one short passage out of the Bible and trumpet it here?

It may be pretty short, but it is one Hell, pun intended, of a CLEAR MESSAGE. Because it was short, even though he CLAIMS TO BE A FOLLOWER OF JESUS, he can just dismiss it while the whole time telling his followers to follow the very same”word”. Who is “cherry picking” now ?

Do you Like Cherries? Want another cherry ?, How about this cherry ?

Matthew 6:24 King James Version (KJV)

24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Maybe that’s just another throw away??

There’s plenty more cherries where those came from.

if not this guy then who passes your criteria?

Again, NOT my criteria. This IS JESUS’S CRITERIA.

So what did Billy Graham do to deserve such a judgment by you?

He’s a hypocrite that laughed all the way to the bank. He became EXTREMELY WEALTHY by peddling Religion. Just ANOTHER Scam Artist.

Name something specific that supports your statement here. ” and it happens to be a different song and dance then they’re LIVING then personally I don’t have any use for them or what they SAY.”

He was an EXTREMELY WEALTHY MAN that USED Religion for HIS PERSONAL GAIN for decades. I’m sure there were/are plenty of dirt poor people that sent him money that they couldn’t afford so he could amass a HUGE PERSONAL FORTUNE. YOU really don’t see a PROBLEM with a MAN doing this “in the name of GOD ?”

I don’t mean some vague crap like the other stuff

You really think someone representing JESUS, and Filling his pockets for Decades with Millions and Millions of Dollars as “vague crap” ???

WOW, what a steaming pile of dung you shoveled up there!

How do you JUSTIFY that a preacher, ANY PREACHER, should have a net worth of 25 million dollars, and this does not include the millions of dollars that he raised and spent over a lifetime ?????????

Ask yourself, “Would Jesus Approve” ?

Would Jesus consider someone this Greedy and Money Hungry as a “devout follower” of his Teachings, and a faithful representative of him here on earth ?

I think when Jesus died he had nothing more then the bleeding wounds upon his body and a crown of thorns. ?????

Awakened, I can tell you this, if Billy Graham didn’t make it to heaven no one is going. In my opinion you have a very twisted and warped understanding of who Billy Graham was and what he did. I also think that that you twist and warp the intended messages of the scriptures that you recite for your own purposes.

I live in Topeka, KS. Not five minutes drive from my home is the well known Phelps compound where Fred Phelps and family have lived for years. Much like the Phelps, you twist and warp scriptures to suite your own evil and demented purposes.

We have nothing more to discuss on this issue or anything else for that matter.
