If I want to read the Bible for its wisdom and not theology. In a modern language, the thee”s and thou’s.

What would you recommend and why?

New Revised Standard Version. There are also common English versions out there, but they do not follow the early texts as closely as the NRSV.

KJV study bible explains the context and the words they used and what these words meant at the time it was written.

    Example:

    Wine= Grape Juice

    Fermented wine= alcohol wine

He “knew” her= He f~~~ed her

Things like that plus the geographical settings “where they took place”.

Stone cold KJV bible reading without understanding the lingo I do not recommend unless it’s a study version.

    ah, Jan..
the bible is filled with lot’s of wisdom,
some of the lingo got mistranslated a long time ago..
    like” 40 ” days..
    40 really means ..many.
so although it’s a good read,
it can be kind of boring..
    .
    good intellectual pursuit though..

Talk is cheap, prayer is cheap. Only in “doing” we find the answers, pay costly mistakes, and reap the benefits of action. Only fools mumble in prayer and talk all day.

i can tell you prayer isn’t cheap.
    talk is ,
but prayer is talking to God.
    .
    call it what you will,
    but it aint cheap..
    sometimes it’s all you have.
    then it becomes priceless..
    .
like the soldiers who were atheists..
found God in a bombed out foxhole, under fire..
    .
    no offense tower,
because i know that God only helps those who help themselves..

Download You Version and sample most of the translations.

My personal preference is the NIV – fairly common Engliah that Americans can understand.

Other versions I read and double check translations are NLT and NSRT.
    I’ll look at KJV also.

A side note for you, since you are not especially looking for Theology but Wisdom, currently I and re reading Proverbs. One of my favorites books is Eclesiastes. Both are attributed as being written by Solomon.

    Just rolling down the road

It’s a tough sell to most, because you have to ask God. But when you KNOW He is real, it’s a different game. Whether you know this or not, MGTOW is teetering on Jesus’s words ” you must be born again”

When you find yourself in the majority, it's time to reflect.

I know this is tricky talking about Christianity, but going MGTOW has opened up my eyes to how pussified Christianity has become. Women have taken over the church, and made it all about them. Paul said basically: women need to shut up at church, don’t ever let them have authority over a man, and if they have questions they should ask their husbands. Jesus stayed way away from women….even his mother.
