About machine learning being sexist, it is bulls~~~, total bulls~~~, it is just an extreme analysis of data, just an extreme rational analysis, I’m studying it this year, just for hobby, and one of the very first “challenges” that I tried to solve is the titanic problem. Machine learning is just a way to create a model that will answer “something about something”, in the titanic case, given a person, if it will survive or not.

Compare the number of women who survived to the number of children. Only one conclusion can be drawn: women on the Titanic were abandoning their children to save themselves.

More facts about the Titanic: many of the early lifeboats were largely empty because men weren’t allowed in them (“Women and c̶h̶i̶l̶d̶r̶e̶n̶ women first!”) but the laydeez didn’t want to sit in cold, wet, uncomfortable lifeboats.

But that was 1912, and the Costa Concordia proved in 2012 that men aren’t playing that game any more. Now it’s every Man for himself, and the laydeez can tread water.

This is true. I believe the crew only saved something like 1/3 or 1/2 of the total amount of people they might have been able to save if they’d just put asses on benches and cast off.
