How is this fair? He cut bait, and she gets part of his work post divorce? Where is the precedence for this? Seems to me, a man serves his 18 years, and then rebuilds bigger and better than ever without the c~~~, he should keep his wealth, and f~~~ the c~~~ up her gaping bungus and out her right eye.

I hope this does not happen to me. I plan on rebuilding bigger and better in a couple years.

A clean break financial order at the point of divorce would have prevented this bulls~~~.

In the article it’s clear they didn’t sort out any financial matters during the divorce, including spousal maintenance, which is utterly stupid and leaves both parties open to claims from the other forever.

This is why it’s important to get decent legal advice and understand the legal implications of divorce.

It cost me about £200 in legal and court fees to get a clean break financial order so there’s no excuse not to do it. Note – this is separate from the process for ending the divorce.

I was lucky enough (yes, you read that right) that my now ex-wife cheated quite openly on me while we were separated but still legally married. Why does that make me lucky, you ask? Well, because I was able to collect enough evidence of her infidelity to convince a judge to grant me a divorce for cause, on the grounds of adultery. And why does that matter….? Because where I live, adultery (if proven) is an automatic, absolute lifetime bar to alimony (unless the behavior is condoned, forgiven, or there’s collusion).

Over $10,000 in fees to the private investigator? Ouch! Never having to worry about alimony? Priceless!

Agreed that the article is written in such a way that the facts are hard to determine and your are forced to conclude that it’s outrageous.

Pertinent information such as how many kids are his and how old they were at the time of the divorce and time mama asked for money are rather important. Yet that information is not there. We don’t know if she was looking for child support money, or some sort of alimony deal.

It also seems pretty clear that the payout was done in order to have this go away. She might not have gotten anything in the end, but her lawyers figured it was cheaper to settle.
