So I have someone visit me with a dog, nice dog .. but after they are gone I find several saturated brown spots on my new light colored carpet. Little bit worried.
I get two different spray bottles of store bought carpet cleaner and soak -saturate the spots blotting with a white paper towel. Spots are still very much there.

I re-saturate and set about five folded layers of paper towel on top placing a small brick on that for weight .. to wick the stain up into the towels. I change this set-up about five times during the afternoon and the spot seems to have been removed.

Later, as the light in the room changes I see that the dried area is still stained. I have a ruined new carpet.

I go online and find this little website with carpet cleaning tips .. if all else fails for animal feces stains .. try

    one tablespoon dishwashing liquid
one tablespoon clear vinegar (I used apple cider vinegar)
mix into two cups of barely luke warm water

saturate stain area and blot with paper towel .. repeat .. repeat again .. rinse twice with water and blot excess

as soon as it’s dry enough .. vacuum well

stain is completely gone .. no sign of carpet having been cleaned, no trace .. blends perfectly and absolutely successful stain removal (thanks to a tip from someone) .. can’t even find where nasty spot once was

additional: if the stain is “tar” .. the carpet can be saved (this is my own recipe)
.. use a scissors and clip away excess tar around area .. when you’ve physically removed as much as possible.. only then, saturate with isopropyl alcohol and blot .. don’t rub .. blot, saturate and blot again and repeat several times .. eventually saturate well one final time and lay about five to seven layers of white paper towel on top and weight down with a heavy object weighing a couple of pounds .. after about twenty minutes remove towel layers, re-sature slightly if necessary .. and place new dry towels under weight .. keep relacing towels until stain has been completely wicked into paper and spot is gone .. finally, vacuum to losen fibers .. and you likely won’t ever find the spot again

    my new light colored carpet.

Yeah, I’ve Purchased New and REPLACED that type of carpet myself.

If ya want easy care, Next Time, look into the multi dark colored tones in a textured berber carpet. It’s easier to maintain, wears well, and looks good with most furniture.

Carpet tends to always collect up all the dust and hard to clean. I prefer no carpet at all. Tiles or hardwood floor can just be swept or washed, no more dust, also the inside of the computer is more clean. And it is possible to clean up oil and grease spots after a bicycle repair. Basically everything that is made of some fabric (carpet, furniture, even blankets and clothes, and so on) are just source of dust, anyway. Easy to see when sun shines in…
