Deutschland is known for it’s beers. Hell, every small town here seems to have there own damned brewery. Which might explain why Oktoberfest is so amazing.

Here, I’ve had a dark lager ale named Doppelbock that is 7% by volume. Absolutely superb beer that goes well with a steak. Guaranteed to knock you on your ass after round 2.

What are some beers/ drinks you’ve tried that have really captured your taste buds?

Laughing Jackass in Granada. I was on a crew layover and in the hotel bar.

Asked the barman to recommend a local drink and that’s what he recommended.

Why’s it called Laughing Jackass I asked.

Drink it and we’ll both find out he says with a smile.

It’s a local rum which he mixed with ….. stuff ….

Three of those and my ears and snout grew large and loud 😃

Domestic, my favorite is Rolling Rock.

Imported, I had a Japanese beer that was actually “non-alcoholic” and it was amazing.  I wish I remembered what it was called so I could get that stuff sent to me.

The first celebratory beer after my divorce is final…I can already imagine how good it will taste.

Avery’s Brewing Company, Belgian Style Quadruple Ale known as The Reverend. Really want to try their Mephistopheles.

I do love a good scotch. Yamazaki single malt from Japan is fantastic.  Can’t get it in Canada so I try to pick some up whenever I’m stateside. The fact that I can enjoy it only once in a while makes it even better.

Good German beer is hard to beat.  Had my first girl today in quite a while (St. Pauli Girl, that is).  Beck’s is the boss.  Not fond of a cold Heiney though.  Killian’s Red is best when grillin’ a good steak.  Just pour a little over it after you’ve flipped it a few times.

Best beer, Westvleteren, but it is impossible to find so get Rochefort 8 or 10, they’re mind blowing.

Also try Mezcal of the brands: Alipus, Amores or Union. Blend it with pineapple juice, ice, orange juice and put lemon on the rim of the glass and put salt and Tajin pepper on the rim.

Or blend mezcal with Jose Cuervo Tamarindo Margarita Mix and do the same lemon salt and Tajin on the rim of the glass.

    You’re welcome.

The best beer I ever drank was one that I brewed myself. Worked almost perfectly on the first try. A little more work than going to the supermarket but  oh it’s so worth it.

I’ve never tried home-brewing myself. I have however tasted home brew and it was pretty damned extraordinary. So I can agree with you there. The science behind distilling at home is no small endeavor. I can only imagine the taste of something fresh brewed. It’s been a loooonnnnggg while since I’ve had some.
